Elvis and Johnny played at bob kings. "

Bob Kings wasn't even in Lawrence County much less Walnut Ridge.
The same people who built the Beatles tribute are working hard to build a guitar walk to other musicians who performed in this area. And all of this without spending any tax money.
I clearly know where Bob's was. I wish they would rebuild it as a kind of historical place. People are simply wasting their money. There aren't going to be any tourists. Our tiny town isn't dying. It's been dead for a long time. You can blame the city council for their fantastic deal with I believe skill. One of those factories that is now dead or dying itself. If it wasn't for them walmart's company would be here and I guarantee you we would be thriving. It's sad when you meet someone who has lived in Paragould their entire life and never heard of Walnut Ridge. Our town had everything going for it. A railroad crossing of north/south and east/west, a major highway and our "leaders" made bad decisions. Businesses can't thrive here. Why stop multiple times in little shops here when you can go to the mall?

More than half of the people in Arkansas knows where it is, and i've yet to see a mall. I think that it was gracious of everyone who gave their time and money to help us out.. if nothing more ever comes all that will be here is a rinky Doin ol hickory. Who's food is mediocre and overpriced. Same for Don's as well; both locations. What we could really use is to make this place a wet county... some of thee shops could be bars or liquor stores and people would save gas going to okein or alicia. Hahaha (:

Why r u people all worried about all these drug addict musicans? Im sorry why would a little town want to do this? I still cant believe this.. When u have so many poor people who live there & u couldnt do something for the children. This statue is only gonna be sitting there for what? What kinda town is this? Its sad because I do know there r some really good people in Walnut Ridge. Really honest hard working Christians.I think they were hookwinked into this whole idea. There r classy people & there r people in low places. But for the life of me how did this town get taken in. Oh ur on the map but not the way u wanna be remenbered. Whoever's idea this statue was must have been heavy into drugs at one time!

What's so sad about a Beatles Statue bonehead? It's was a good memory the folks there had so don't spoil it with holier than thou attitude. If you want to do something for the children then quit your bitchin and bellyaching and get your church involved in helping the children who need ant help. You numbskull you blame everything on drugs. well none of the Beatles every died from drugs and none of them preached that people should use drugs.Maybe your the one on drugs?

Well I recently saw the House in Alton, Mo that the Beatles stayed in.. Granted there's not much up in that part of the world.. But there wasn't a single Beatles sign, poster, song playin, haircut, or ANYTHING to do with the Beatles.. If I hadn't had a local with me who knew about the place, you wouldn't have known it from any other farm house..

One state leader visitng WR was over heard to say, What in the h--- are ya'll showing that off when you need to be talking highways, railroads, airport and how to creat jobs. You know, I sorta agree with that. Those music projects may get publicity but not always in the light wanted. For me the projects are alright, but I think we need to promote more substantial advantages. I hope our town and civic leaders will work to improved job offerings as an avenue for growth. Playing in flower bed type projecta are good but contribute little to what Walnut RIdge really needs.

its sad when so many get so excited over a 5 min visit from beatles many many yrs ago.. when the generation of folks that were around that yr, are gone, who is gonna be left to get excited over that statue. it just looks so unfinished, like the building was bombed out and that was the only thing left.. I just cant imagine what folks say that actually drive in to see it..would love to be a little bird sitting on the shoulder of one of the Beatles statue listing to the comments of those who actually took the time to come in and see it?? then what do they do??? eat and leave, because there is nothing else, well soon they can drive by and see the quitar park. wow.. two things to see in WR. amazing.. sorry folks, its just so sad that people in this community get excited over so very little. Now if it were a new factory bringing in jobs.. then we should throw a big party for them.. that would mean help for this area, but this other, is just plain silly.. sorry but its the truth.

I actually stood there and just lowered and shook my head when I first walked up to it.

I actually stood there and said well at least these poor hillbillies didn't have to pay for the statue out of their own poor pockets. Walnut Ridge needs some attention even if it was just a quick stop for the Beatles. Remembering a historical event brings good memories for the folks who were around then so why cry over it and bitch about it. Just get over it.Walnut Ridge city officials need to manage the town better but it won't get done by complaining about a statue that some might enjoy looking at.

now that we know there are not going to be big rush of tourist buses coming into town to see the Beatles thing, we really should move it to the airport, where the Beatles actually touched that ground. having it in a bombed out looking building in middle of town says nothing, it should be a highway marker like statue with the Beatles etched on it and a small sign that says, something like in l966??) or what ever yr it was the Beatles landed at WR airport.. that is ALL that is needed for such a small event that happened 5o yrs ago.

Honestly every time I drive by that half building I cant help but cringed just a little thinking someone just might take the time to drive into our town to see this historical thing and what they must think when they see this statue of Beatles standing in a bombed out looking building. its really sad to me. but that is just my Humble opinion. sorry, be we all are entitled to our thoughts.
