Arkansas would ban abortions if a fetal heartbeat is detected under a bill introduced by a Republican senator Monday, a proposal that would prohibit the medical procedure as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.

Not in other aspects of life.
Smoking bans, gambling laws, etc. Peoples choices are inhibited all the time.
I've never voted for a ban on anything in my entire life, and I'm not about to start now. Adult citizens should be free to make their own choices, about whatever is important to them, and that includes our medical decisions.

The fact that I might not agree with the choice, shouldn't make it illegal for others.

Democracy is funny that way.

He's their go-to guy, when they want to declare individuals 'inherently evil' for making decisions with which they don't agree...apparently, he's the only one 'evil' enough to compare with the 'evil' women who opt out of motherhood - at least in their eyes.

I know, it's weird........

My point was simply that some choices are limited or prohibited by law today. Democratically.

Very weird. Their obsession with Hitler is disturbing.

Sounds like Arkansas hasn't changed an iota in 200 years. This bill doesn't surprise me - women in Arkansas are the historical epitome of 'property,' to be controlled by their Fathers, their husbands, and eventually, their sons.
being an Arkansan woman, this statement couldn't be more false! I don't know of a woman being controlled by any man!

Must not be any good christian women in Arkansas.

Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Of course you don't know any women...you're all locked in your respective basements, and the fellas only let you out to do the cooking, cleaning, and baby-making...fraternization between you would spoil the plan.

Nor do I...these hateful women on the forum are jealous of any of us who have loving, kind relationships with men. They are unable to have the type of relationship that is equal.

Removing a woman's right to make her OWN sexual and reproductive decisions...sure sounds like CONTROL to me.

That has nothing to do with Arkansas, that's the United States.

So if we're controlled, we're stupid hicks that can't speak for ourselves and if we think for ourselves we're not Christians? Got it.-_-

I owe you an apology for my crass statement. It was uncalled-for, and I am sorry for saying what I said.

But really, if you don't believe that women should have the right to our own medical choices, whether or not YOU personally agree with them, I cannot respect your stance.

I do, however, respect your right to hold your opinion.

Have a great day.

I really haven't said what my beliefs are. You are right in assuming I'm prolife, but I also believe there are some cases that it should be permissible. I also am under the belief that God is judge and not me.

REALLY. Strange; I thought the lawmaker proposing this new abortion restriction is from Arkansas. Is this senator from a different state?

This is something that is going on in the United States. It was said that Arkansas men control their women.

Thankfully for pregnant women, your 'beliefs' and mine, are not the arbiter of whether or not it's 'permissible' to abort a pregnancy...as it stands, the law leaves it up to each woman to decide according to HER beliefs, and I think that's a good thing.
