Election 2010 to Shatter Spending Records as Republicans Benefit from Late Cash Surge / October 27, 2010 / http://tinyurl.com/23w9hx6
WASHINGTON – This year’s federal election will obliterate spending records for a midterm contest, surpassing the previous high-water mark set in 2006 by about $1 billion, the Center for Responsive Politics predicts less than a week before voters cast their ballots.
That’s enough cash to run the city of Pittsburgh for two years. Buy every resident of Topeka a nice used car. Or treat each and every American to a Big Mac and fries.
And such record-breaking spending is largely fueled by the confluence of two powerful political forces. First, dozens of competitive, often contentious congressional campaigns are being waged, providing incentive for record spending. Second, recent federal court decisions have armed corporations, unions and ideological organizations with the firepower to spend as much as they want, whenever they want on political messages saying just about anything they want, no matter how scathing or partisan.
“We knew this election could make spending history, but the rate of growth is stunning,” said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics and its website, OpenSecrets.org .“This kind of money in 2010 makes the 2000 presidential election – hardly a distant memory – look like a bargain at $3.1 billion. And tens of millions of dollars of it is now coming from organizations who, by law, need not disclose their donors. It’s now more difficult than ever for voters to determine whether the outside groups flooding their television and radio airwaves with political messages are doing so for any reason other than promoting their own, narrow set of special interests.”
“i hope we can change this!”

The Surveillance State Threatens All of Us

When you hear the word "security" or "safety" watch out. They are the two buzz words that are most often used by the government, whether federal or local, to fearmonger. Fear can be used to drive bad policies that otherwise would be rejected. It has consequences, internationally, nationally, and locally. Around the world Americans fight wars because they are afraid that if they do not do so they will be attacked by terrorists. Nationally, the Department of Homeland Security grows and grows, compiling extensive data bases on citizens who have done no wrong. Locally, police forces grow larger and larger in spite of falling crime rates. What is certain about the consequence of fear is that those who sell it to increase government powers do so in the full knowledge that it will cost lots of taxpayer money and will also wind up infringing on civil liberties. Make no mistake, the post 9/11 United States is moving gradually towards becoming a police state-lite and no one seems to care very much. But don't worry, it is all happening to make you more safe and secure./ http://www.campaignforliberty.com/article.php...

That's fine.. lay off Bush.. he isn't in office and doesn't crave the lime light and power as the clintons and democrats. They identify us as the enemy. Your absolutely correct that we are loosing our rights and moving to a police state. Liberal progressives are the greatest threat to America's survival. We have to join together to ensure career politicians, and back room deals are stopped. Obama lied to get his evil claws in power and his radical progressives are taking us in a direction we won't see are way out of. We never get are rights back when they are taken from us. We need to hold the Republicans feet to the fire. This isn't a freed ride for them either but I feel its our only hope at this point. I'm not throwing my vote away for a third party that puts a democrat back in there liike Puro did. I do agree with you on certain points but bashing Republicans for the past doesn't help. This here and this is now. Give them one more chance and if they don't get it right, they are finished and we all could be doomed!

I'm understanding more and more we are under attack by both parties. But what I'm trying to say is strick conservatives that honor our constitution and won't give in to nontransparency (as obama lied to us about), let us We the people decide what is worthy of spending and American lives. This is the most important election of our lives! America is sick of the democrats...obama and his czars need to go! Clinton needs to retire and chase some skirts somewhere. I can respect Bush for staying out of our faces. I'm so sick of carter and clinton with their sneeky manipulation of the process. Democrats are Americas biggest threat to our survival!

I will prove to you beyond all doubt that Obama is not liberal/progressive.
He is a RINO in the the corporate Democratic party if that makes sense.
Obama took Glass/Steagall off the table for Wall Street reform.
Obama took Single Payer health care ( Medicare For All ) off the table.
These are liberal/progressive issues and Obama did not pick even ONE LIBERAL or even one Conservative in his cabinet.

Lies The Government Told You
Author: Judge Andrew Napolitano
Judge Andrew Napolitano has created a great book with Lies The Government Told You. He has put into writing what many of us have long suspected…our government has been lying to use for years about almost everything it has ever done. If you think our government is crooked and power hungry, you will realize just how crooked it is when you read this book. Lies The Government Told You is scary as hell to be truthful. I didn’t find a single thing that I disagreed with. It’s almost unbelievable how far our Nation has moved from the Constitution. While I don’t watch much news anymore (I find most so called “journalists” to be either too frightened or too stupid to ask real questions that actually matter) I see enough to keep up with the major stories. I was glad to see Napolitano mention the failure of the national media as well in the book. Lies The Government Told You will really open your eyes to how broken our government is, not just because it’s virtually bankrupt, but because it fails to uphold the constitution and protect the very citizens that fund it. You will also learn that the Federal Reserve isn’t a “federal” entity. It’s a private corporation that controls all our money with little or no oversight. There used to be a joke that if Alan Greenspan happened to comment how nasty a rainy day was, the stock market would drop fifty points. It doesn’t sound far-fetched when you realize how much power the Federal Reserve actually has. I wold love to see this book as required reading in any government class. It truly does open your mind to the countless ways we as citizens have failed to protect our own freedoms by allowing such actions to occur time and time again. If you can still vote for most politicians after reading this, I can only hope they have also read the book. All Americans should be both shocked and ashamed at our government for these lies. We should remember these actions the next time we vote, though another big problem is the lack of choices on the ballot. Let’s be honest, how many times have you voted for the lesser of two evils? I highly recommend this book for everyone. If millions read it and understand how far we have fallen, maybe there is still hope that we can get our government and our constitutional rights back.

Bush challenges hundreds of laws / President cites powers of his office

WASHINGTON -- President Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.
Among the laws Bush said he can ignore are military rules and regulations, affirmative-action provisions, requirements that Congress be told about immigration services problems,''whistle-blower " protections for nuclear regulatory officials, and safeguards against political interference in federally funded research.

From an April 2010 poll of Tea Party Supporters:
"An overwhelming majority of Tea Party supporters, 84 percent, say the views of the Tea Party movement reflect the views of most Americans. But Americans overall disagree: Just 25 percent say the Tea Party movement reflects their beliefs, while 36 percent say it does not."
A movement whose supporters stomp on women's heads and whose candidates don't understand the 1st Amendment does not reflect American values.

The TEA party stands for a return to the constitution, fiscal conservatism, moral values, and the rights of the unborn. If that's "out of the mainstream", then I'm a right-wing extremist.
I'll tell you what's "extreme"...
voting for legislation you don't read
spending hundreds of billions of dollars you don't have
buying votes with taxpayers' money through bribery
thinking that socialism will ever lead to prosperity

I respect the fiscal conservatives in the Tea Party. I don't like the Tea Party movement as a whole because it has attracted right-wing estremists (including bigots and militia types) and because much of the rhetoric I heard from Tea Party groups was sinply not true.
