I used to do assessor calls on people who were disabled. I told my boss that I had gone to college originally for a Nursing Degree and had, after three years of the Nursing Program but did not finish the Program. I told them that I did continue on to receive a BA in Human Services. This occured in the Winter of 2001. I don't have any idea when or if this practice was ever eliminated.

The whole idea behind how the state runs its health programs is the underling problem. The state of alaska on purpose makes it hard for the old, the sick or the needy to get services. By wearing down the elderly, the sick and needy they get these people to do without. To die waiting. To go to a different state. By making the programs next to impossible to get into the state saves money it can spend on other things. Per diem, legislative raises and graft. The state of alaska don't care about Old people.

Part of the reason it is hard to recruit nurses into these positions is that the job class they are using is too low of a pay grade (range 19) to attract experienced nurses. These positions should be at least a Nurse Consultant I (range 21) or higher.
