Republican lessons in manning up

Full story: The Paradise Post

For those who like to see things die, it must have been quite a treat to see Mama Grizzly, Sarah Palin, gun down a reindeer on her reality show, brought to us by The Learning Channel, a media outlet designed to learn us all something about how to hunt with perfect hair, nails, makeup, and expensively stylish hunting apparel.

Really good points on Boehner and Muskie.

I have no problem with real hunting, but what some of these rich (and usually republican) folks call hunting is pure cowardice. Just look back at what Cheney was calling hunting when he shot his buddy.

It is also beyond me how Palin got away with using significant amounts of tax payer dollars to proliferate hunting from helicopters during her service as Governor.

After all of Jaime's diatribe showing his hatred for anything Republican, and in particular Sarah Palin, the only factual thing he wrote was: " I guess I just don't know what it means to be a man."

Today the Republicans killed the "Dream" act. Republicans hate immigrants and Mexicans in particular. To all Hispanics: please remember that the Republicans are your enemy the next time you have the chance to vote. Mark Montgomery NYC, NY boboberg@nyc.rr.com

Don't forget about the 5 Dems that voted against this bill as well. If it wasn't for those 5 Dems Harry would have only needed to swing 4 Repubs which he may have been able to do. Stupid Dems, blocking the Dream Act, I can't believe it.

It is beyond me how you and Jaime are so intimidated by Sarah Palin. But if you are worried about tax payers paying for a helicopter ride during Palins governorship, try concerning yourself with Queen Pelosi's great big jet to haul her and all her family around, at taxpayers expense. You guys should "man up" and concern yourselves with something more important than what Sara is doing! You libs. sound petty!

p.s. I really enjoy seeing more of Alaska and Sara Palin is making that possible. What's not to like about that! "me thinks thou dost protest too much".

Republicans don't hate Mexicans. Republicans hate those who threatens this country, no matter who they are.

There's one minor difference between FORMER Governor Palin and CURRENT Speaker Pelosi. Nancy Peolosi is not a quitter like Sarah Palin. She actually DOES what she said she would do unlike Sarah who SAYS she will represent Alaskans and then QUITS. Nancy deserves every cent WE spend on her.

Terrific article Jaime, as always...Thanks!

I wouldn't say I am intimidated by Palin as much as I am perplexed how someone with such limited cognitive abilities gets so much support.

I never mentioned a helicopter ride taken by Sarah Palin. What I mentioned was her use of taxpayer dollars to promote hunting from helicopters.

I hang with enough conservatives to know much of her appeal comes down to sex. Conservative friends of mine post her photos on my Facebook page like she is some kind of pin-up girl. Personally, I do not get it. Dumb women are just not that appealing.

I'll take Sarah Palin and Alaska versus this writer and California ANY DAY......Everything she has in her life, she has worked for and earned, pretty much on her own. She values marriage and her children and she is a fantastic role model for all women to follow. I'll take her Alaska values and hard work versus latte drinking Californians who's look down on hard working Americans, all the while wiping their snotty noses, while flipping through the LA Times or the Hollywood Reporter to see the latest rumors on Brangelina.....EGADS.........

You're just angry because Sara Palin removed herself from all the frivolous law suits you libs. had lined up for her. I don't know very many males who could stand up to all the guff the left has directed toward her and let it run off her back like water off a ducks back. Now she is out of office and making millions and I say, "you go girl"!!!!

You betcha!!!

And she is laughing all the way to the bank. The media has to take a large part of the responsibility for making Palin so successful, they tried to smear her and they have accomplished that to a degree but she has used the media to her advantage as well. Palin has made a lot of money and gotten a lot more publicity and recognition than anyone expected. She has played the media to her advantage and I think is pretty much in control right now. I think she is pretty shrewd and not dumb at all, after all she has all the Lefties bent out of shape, they can't stop talking about her, anytime you get the Left worked up you have to be doing something right.

O'stupid just ain't man enough to handle Sarah. This guy probably wets himself over swatting a fly.

Hope you are a vegan O'stupid. I think Sarah is more sporting than mass killing cows for meat, shoed, purses and those fancy jackets limo-libs wear to NYC events.

Jaime O'Neill, you ignorant twit. You know nothing about hunting, if you did you would not write such stupid things. Hunting can be as expensive, or as inexpensive as one wishes to make it. In this case, she got TLC to foot the bill and pay her as well. Good work if you can get it, and she got it..

"Several decades ago, when Ed Muskie, a Democratic presidential candidate, got teary-eyed because of attacks on his wife, the media played it up big, and the incident took down his candidacy because a crying Democrat was seen as a wimp..."

1.) That was 40 years ago. It's no surprise that in today's much-feminized America, emotions are more highly valued, and today's politicians may even profit from displaying them.

2.) Boehner isn't trying to be the Commander in Chief of the most substantial military on the planet. He isn't even running for office. Muskie was doing both. And I think if Obama had whimpered during his campaign, he'd have ended up on the compost pile of wanna-be presidents as well, feminized as we may be.

OK, so you've wasted a column deriding Sarah Palin, the politician least likely to grab the next GOP nomination. Republicans aren't going to push here into running with the disapproval ratings she has anyway. Better you sharpen your hatchet against the likes of Mitt Romney. Pull out your flimsy "Mormons-hate-gays" argument, paint him and his tribe as cultist morons.

If Sarah Palin values marriage then, correct me if I'm wrong, why doesn't she and her husband sleep in the same bed? Her whiny voice sounds so much like Marge Simpson whenever I hear her speak I have to cringe.

Now, that's a cheap shot. A couple's sleeping habits often have nothing to do with the quality of their marriage. Many folks, especially as they grow older, find that they simply can't get a decent night's sleep in the same bed, often for medical reasons.

On the other hand, there is Charles Kasey Kitterman's bewilderment: "I wouldn't say I am intimidated by Palin as much as I am perplexed how someone with such limited cognitive abilities gets so much support." Well, her limited cognitive abilities are precisely why she gets support. She is easily manipulated. And she is playing her assigned role well. She sends the left into a tizzy and causes a few on the right to roll their eyes as well. She draws the headlines, the spotlight. But as Scholar points out, "Republicans aren't going to push here into running with the disapproval ratings she has anyway. Better you sharpen your hatchet against the likes of Mitt Romney." I see the malignant hands of the likes of Karl Rove here. The country is being manipulated. Sarah is nothing but a smoke-screen to prevent the critical examination of whoever ultimately the Republicans run for President

I do agree with your point. If Paris Hilton, Brittney Spears or Lindsay Lohan declared themselves to be republicans, I am certain many conservatives would be doing back-flips to get them on a ballot somewhere.

It is just that some of us expect more out of our political leaders and celebrities.

Some of us have the good sense not to confuse the two.
