Check out this forum I found surrounding the issues with Yelp and Ripoff Report! Insane how they have been getting away with ruining small business's around the United States. Yelps filtration system is wacko! They automatically pull reviews they think are fake... but the bad ones are more likely to stick than the positive ones. This forum is new but it's a great place to voice your opinion about these sites.

Businesses could be best regulated if they had fewer ways of eliminating online criticism against them.

Hi, I am the owner of a tattoo studio in Melbourne, Australia and was totally unaware of this site until a customer bought to my attention that a person ( who apparently does not exist) had written a bad review about my studio. Although there are several other positive reviews that have been filtered the negative comment is the only visible one. I am shocked upon finding all this negative information in regards to this site and must wonder "am I about to be extorted".I must also wonder why, as it seems to have affected so many people, has no one paid this group of nerds down on Mission st a visit?Luckily the world really is a small place.

I am a new business owner in Southern Cali and I am at my establishment almost every day--all reviews on yelp have been good since we purchased 4 months ago. We have a young girl who has posted a negative comment on our site, who lives over 30 miles away and has never been to our establishment. Well when we finally figured it out, it is someone who dislikes the person we hired and posts negative comments about her when she's working.
Yelp needs to become own up to this crap going on and they should come up with a more fair way for business owners to be able to reply and make it public!!

Yelp continues to censor posts so that their "rating" is nonsense and contrary to what the overall rating would be without their censorship. For one company, Yelp lists "53 reviews for *** that are not currently recommended" and for which do not affect the company's rating. Almost all of these are much more recent and five stars. Most of the old, one star comments are considered in the rating. I've ordered dozens of products from this company and always had great service and received the products promptly and in perfect condition. Yet, I wouldn't have dared do so had I relied on Yelp. Bottom line, Yelp is a farce!

The yelp employees that call are the rudest people. I can not wait until this site gets shut down for their scandulous business practices. Always happens sooner or later. Example - Ponzi Schemes. Yelp is no different. Charge you to move to the top & when you say "no" to their BS you will be pushed to the bottom with "fake & negative" reviews.

Here is the math, 72 million shares of nyse yelp stock issued at 54.73 per share. Approx 3.9 billion in public funding. Last ftc complaint announcement, yelp stock dropped 6.6 percent in one day on 2,046 complaints. So as you can see, each complaint informs public market place to divest tens of thousands of dollars, as is just. Yelp investors needs to be informed so please, take a moment and document your experience. Then inform friends and family also of how your company continues to lose revenue, due to yelp's illegal filtering of 5 star reviews, a blatant violation of freedom of speech.https://www.ftccomplain Code#crnt

I've had entertained about 48,000 customers in aprox 24 total months (seasonal boutique business) I've had about 10 reviews on yelp and about half negative. This is a platform for the 1% of the unappeasable crazys out there! Then I get a call from a versed inside sales person. Told him I hated his site for the reason above. He tells me if i bought advertising Id get a different "algorithm" so the negative reviews would hardly ever be seen! I asked him to repeat himself because that sounded like extortion to me! He hung up. Sad that they clog the search engins with themselves and forums they sponsor that support them. Yelp users don't get to see the truth.

Hey guys, I am new to this website and joined here to share my experience with you guys as even one of my friend suffered lot because of fake reviews on yelp.

Honestly speaking, I have seen so many fake reviews posted on business profiles just to spoil the reputation of the business especially for restaurants and hotels. And, the worst part is that if you try to report this issue to Yelp they don't do anything about it. Then I suggested him about using online reputation tool Link Wiper which helped him to remove negative reviews from search results.

I am sharing the video with all of you, so you can check out the video to know more about this tool.

I am a really small service business just getting started. I grossed about $30,000 last year. Netted maybe $15,000. I had a very nice, positive sales girl sell me on using yelp. She told me the cost was based on how many people go from yelp to my website. It will cost between $25 and $300 a month, depending on activity. First bill $254.00. Second month $300.00! The first month I had 4 people check out yelp. Second month I had 8 people check it out. Those figures were given to me by yelp. In my business most customers spend $30.00 to use my service. So, for a mere $554.00 I got 12 people to look at my yelp page. As far as I know, one of those used my service. According to the original salesgirl, I should be charged $25.00 a month. According to the bill collector, I owe $300.00 for the second month. Please, someone put these guys out of business and behind bars where they belong.

Yelp is getting away with legal extortion!

Cannot understand why government allows them to ignore wishes of small business owner not to appear on YELP.

Big money makes the world go round. Small business at the mercy of social media advertisers such as YELP.

If they are charging for services and are for profit organization they should not be protected by so called public information laws.

How can we fight this?
