An honest man who tried to do a good job but was dealt or sat in on a really bad hand the game of trying to save Detroit.

Too many years of one party monopoly on power & union domination , fiscal mismanagement, out of control population ruined the city.

Detroit is a lot like the titanic.

Detroit stuck it's city mismanagement & financial iceberg years ago and can't be saved as viable entity as it is currently constituted. the city is sinking.

Pouring more money into the city won't bring it back. These isn't enough money in the state to save Detroit.

Sent da city to bankruptcy court, void the excessive union pay and retirement contracts,
start over with new people, new ideas, new political parties, cause what Detroit has now isn't even close to working as designed.

Too bad because Detroit was a beautiful fun city
years ago. but then the majority population of the city ruined it.

Dave Bing is taking lots of heat. He is accused of coming from the outside and not doing the job. He's accused of being a REPUBLICAN of all things, shame of it all. He probably won't run again and probably would not win. Many people will still express anger at him when he is gone for not saving the city.

One thing about Mayor Bing, you won't see him ranting and raving. Mr. Bing won't be doing the Harlem shake. He won't be using ebonics. He will always dress tight and be respectful of all people. Over time most people will understand that he gave the job an honest try to help. That's a decent legacy for any man. Superman just doesn't come around very often.
