This kid belongs in prison with the rest of the bank robbers. He could have got a job at Mac Donalds. His parents could have gone to Taco Bell or Burger King. As the Judge said, "don't get your hopes up" this kid needs to do five years, sending out a message...

Perfect example why some young people get into lots of trouble. Their parents and family will never discipline them and always blame society or rasism for their child getting into trouble.

Not to shame our Mexican community, the Salinas Californian newspaper has started not mentioning race, they will give you a detailed description of a culprits bicycle, the color, the make even what type of a tires, but not who rode that bike. And than ask the public to help police in aprehending this jackel.---- And about this Bank Robber Senor Cervantes. Who cares if he was a basketball player, loved bowling, or played horse shoes, and who cares if he never was in trouble before. It,s not what he was or hopes to be , it's what Senor Servantes did now.He robed a bank and he should pay for his crime.

No, actually the moderators don't delete your post if you say anything about Mexicans. However, they have removed racist posts. If your posts aren't racist then you don't have to worry about them being removed.

However, your statement in post #2 (what an appropriate number) and your screen name would indicate that you might have a problem with people from Mexico. You weren't in court I'm assuming, so you didn't hear all the testimony. It's clear that the judge did and he is waiting for an evaluation.

If your parents were having severe financial problems what would you do to help them? Would you tell them to get a job at McDonald's? That's a bit cynical, wouldn't you agree? It seems that this young man was driven to make a bad choice because he was desperate to help his parents. He actually knows that he made a bad decision. He didn't blame it on anyone else. He actually took responsibility for his actions. Taking responsibility is something that many people seem to avoid.

I think you're being a bit harsh and it seems that harshness is based purely on the nationality of the person.

there are worse roaming the streets. I'd focus on putting them in jail. All things considered, this one probably deserves probation. It doesn't appear he is a threat to society.

He will be able to use his skills about teamwork and teach other prisoners to turn their lives around.

That is wonderful he will have a support system of friends on the outside when he is in prison, and also when he is released. Many prisoners don't have that support system and end up going back to the big house.

Everytime a crime is committed by a youth or (gangbanger), the answer is always the same... He was just getting his life turned around, he was trying to help his parents, he would never hurt anybody, he wanted to go to College, he was a good son, uncle, brother, father, cousin and classmate..Wow..Our prisons could be half empty if this is the criteria we use to sentence convicts..

No actually The Moderators will delete your comments, for merely making an observation. What is so racist to tell the truth about any ethnic group? the bloger (Mexican Terrorist) comments were not racist, they were based on these simple facts.Pick-up any local newspaper, tune-in on any news broadcast, and what ethnic group dominates police reports? Are we suppose to live in denile? Maybe a little discrimination would help to keep all races on the right track.

In the current economy, there are millions of people losing jobs and losing homes. The majority don't rob a bank to alleviate their financial woes. This "good kid" not only concocted this crime but had the audacity to actually commit it. Obviously he isn't as 'good' as others think he is. Obviously there is a dark, criminal side to him that may well surface again, given the right circumstances. And this time the crime may not be so innocuous.

I usually have no pity on people who rob banks, but his profile just doesn't fit him as a bank robber. There had to be a major reason as to why. I think it was to help his family. I would suggest after evaluation..........probation. Let him prove he can persue a career.

Oh, I have no police record and no money. I can rob a bank and expect parole. I don't think so! Send him up!

Probation, sending him to prison would most likely have an adverse effect on him. It would be in the best interest of society to NOT send him to prison, and give him a chance to prove himself.

It's a good thing we don't all go rob banks when we are out of money. Here's a idea"GET A JOB !".That is the problem with society today, there is not enough hard core punishment for the hard core crimes that are committed.Maybe he should just be given a "time out".

Any body who runs around thinking it's cool calling them selves a terrorist should be shot in the head.
