We love going to Como and visiting the Zoo and then popping over to the pool... I hope they can get it built faster than 2010 "at the earliest"... Maybe they'll put something in so the adults can enjoy it too! How about a Lazy River Saint Paul? I just hope with a new pool the rates don't go sky high, but I know the Mayor is about equal access so hopefully he sticks around long enough to keep the prices low!

Many friends I met on a sports community say they just hope with a new pool the rates don't go sky high---- Do you think this will become true??????????

I am not a fan of throwing $ everywhere...but Como is a great asset to the city of St. Paul. It is worth the continued investment.

You watched SNL tonight, too, huh? I agree. Fix it and be done with it. Charge minimal fees (or donations?) if they have to. But FIX IT!! NOW!

Why don't you get on your two little feet and go door to door asking for donations to fix it. It's always better to have the money to fix something before you have it fixed. Then the rest of us who don't use it don't have to pay for your entertainment. That's called fiscal responsibility, something you B. Hussein Obama Democrats have never heard of. Try it sometime.

Can the Republicans please do the same thing with the Iraq war?

The neighbors are selfish. Let the City build a water park (which it needs) and get some money coming into the City. If you bought a house near Como, what did you expect? No traffic?

Amen, Crabby.
If you buy a home by the airport, there will be plane noise.
If you buy a home near the Fairgrounds, there will be crazy traffic several weeks a year.
If you guy a home near a university or college, there will be kids having parties outside.
If you bought a home near Como for the view, expect people - a lot of people - to be a part of that view.
If you want the view of a park without a whole buncha people cluttering it up, move to the country, design a park, build it, maintain it, and enjoy! It's a simple plan!

Pot, meet kettle. At least Democrats don't drive us deep into debt like Republicans are wont to do. Reagan doubled the national debt; Bush has quadrupled it. I hope you aren't expecting applause from your children and grandchildren who will have to work their fannies paying off those debts.

I am a ex-St. Paulite, who has generally voted republican for a long time. As a kid, I was driven across town to the current Como Pool by my father. A lot of great memories of my youth are that of Como Pool. This swimming pool, along with the Como Park is/was a St. Paul Treasure and should be preserved for the good of the entire city. If you can't use public money for parks I ask you what can you use it for? McCain-Palin08 those ultra conservative republicans and you over the top special interest liberals are what's wrong with this country. No common sense what so ever. I voted for the George W Bush both times he ran, and what a overall disaster that has been. But on the otherside, democrats you haven't exactly given us much to choose from. Heck, Hillary nearly won your parties endorsement this year. People it's a public pool, for the actual good of the public. This isn't public assistance for people who want to sit around with the thumbs up the kiesters and not work. Build the pool. Keep the politics out of it. Grow up McCain-Palin08. People like you make it hard to be a republican.

Carter didn't exactly inspire a generation of hard working Americans. It was under his guidance we saw double digit inflation and unemployment. I am paying for that! The Debt has been on the rise since Kennedy and Obama is not going to stop adding to it.

The question is how is St. Paul, the poorest community in the State, going to raise enough money to rebuild this landmark?

They should put some flowriders in (sheet wave surfing devices)...they're way fun, and it would compete with the Water Park of America in Bloomington

Neither has a point - if we can't afford a hole in the ground how in the world can we afford a high-tech, outdoor surf machine?

Plus, if you've seen the public pool crowd in Minnesota, it ain't exactly Long Beach, kiddo.

I agree with the flow rider guy. If Como Park doesn't get one, Minnesota will continue to lose high-tech jobs to coastal California.

It's just another small sign of change in St. Paul. Things like parks need a tax base. St. Paul is attracting people that can't pay for things and driving away those that can, businesses too. As the mix of city residents continues to slide toward people that can't pay for their own healthcare or much of anything else, how do suppose parks get funded? Maybe something to think about when it comes to setting up sanctuary policies or trolling third world countries for more refugees.

If you want a pool there then pay for one. YOU can pay more in taxes then what is taken out of your paychecks. i am sure the city of St.Paul would be glad to have your extra money.
