That is three games in a row that the Packers have played a team that had strong running and a running quarterback. In everyone of those games the defense should have been in an 8-man front and played to contain, not to sack. That is not a failure by personnel, that is a failure of coaching. Every coach has a game plan, but when that gameplan isn't working, or in the case of the San Francisco game, is failing miserably, the coach has to make adjustments. No adjustments were made by Dom Capers in the San Francisco game. The defense was terrible.

The Packers cannot continue to wait for the defense to gel. We have the best quarterback in the NFL and he is in his prime. Capers has had his chance. It is time for a change. One of the best defensive coaches in the NFL is available and close at hand. Lovie Smith would hit the decks running and convert this defense to a winner right away. He has a proven track record with the Bears defense consistently being one of the best in the NFL, and the Packers have good defensive personnel that could make the jump to a Lovie Smith defense.

The Packers should need to make the change now.

Lovie may be a great defensive mind, but his Christian turn the other cheek ways hurt the bears on many fronts. Kevin Greene for example is fiery guy a coach that is not scared to get into a players face and tell the they are sucking it up.
