Thank god we have Flynn. We really do need to trade Rubio because he obviously does not want to play here.

I'm still concerned about not getting a HC before the draft. Whoever is hired is going to have to see and do things Kahn's way. Whether that is good or not remains to be seen, but it does put the HC at a decided disadvantage.

Back off. Kahn is going what a REAL gm does: he's acting from clarity, not enthusiasm. We don't know what is going on with Rubio. Perhaps JDM is more able to understand what it would be like to owe 6 mil for breaking a contract than I am, but I think I'd be scratching my head just like Rubio and his handlers. Also, wanting to play in the NBA is one thing, but moving to a foreign country is another. Ask any NBA player who had to play in Europe if it's real easy living in a foreign culture. And, newsflash to those of you who have never left the good old US of A, this is neither the best nor the only place in the world, and English is not the only language. Ricky's eyes are probably bigger than his stomach, and he's still just a kid. This is complicated stuff -- give him a break. As to a coach, Kahn has to know what he's got as a team before he can know what he needs in a coach. If he's got Rubio and Flynn and he truly wants to play them both, he needs a very special, very creative coach who will need different skills than a coach who is just working with a standard NBA roster with one dominant point guard. I guess what I'm saying is, give it a rest. This is the most interesting and thoughtful I've ever seen the T-Wolves' offseason. And, yes, Kahn may not be someone you'd want to have as a neighbor, but he's sure as hell someone you'd want as a lawyer -- which, by the way, is exactly what he is.

Does anyone know how long the Wolves retain Rubio's rights if they don't sign him? If he hasn't signed after a year or two do they forfeit his rights/

I believe that the wolves retain his rights unless he sits out a year and doesn't play professionally, in which case he goes back into the draft. If he goes back into the draft, the team drafting him then retains his rights forever. I am not 100 percent on this, but am pretty sure this is the way it is.

So far, I like the moves Kahn has made. Flynn & Ellington are solid choices. And Rubio is a top value pick. Patience.

the CONman blew it on Rubio....you will never get his value(5th pick in 1st round) in a trade...any team interested in him knows he does not want to be here so CONman can hold onto him and get nothing and Rubio will stay in Spain or trade him for around a mid 1st round pick to a team he wants to play for....and to top it off he gave away Foye and Miller on the deal.... why do you think the other teams passed on this Rubio kid ??....so, for the 5th pick in the first round the Woofies and the CONman trade Foye and Miller and get nothing with the draft pick....BRILLIANT....and then trade probably the most NBA ready draft choice, Lawton, to Denver,a team in your own division to top it off....that still leaves you with a team with no defense....DON"T fall for the CONman...an ex newspaper columnist/writer turned GM of an NBA franchise....what is Glen Taylor doing ??....i did not think it could get worse than McFail
thanks

fracas-I appreciate the info-

I think the Rubio pick is good. He's a player other teams will covet, and who might end up here, and who's in a hurry, since we are rebuilding? If he doesn't come this year it's OK, we'll wait.

Of course, I'm assuming the Wolves won't trade his rights away for a low pick or lousy player, but the new GM seems smarter than that. He has said,'what's the hurry.' That's a portent of better days, I think.

the key to this draft, was to draft some big men with talent, to guard the basket, what good is all these point guards, if u can't stop the other team from scoring.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Virgo

Mercury is turning retrograde at just the right time, because it's telling you to consider the validity of your long-term aims and aspirations. If they stand about as much chance of seeing the light of day as you do of winning the Lottery, then you need to streamline them or even abandon them and start again. So think about what you want from life and how you're going to get it. Children and romance may be quite erratic during this phase.
