1 The Soul is in 2nd place. There's a lot of yapping on here about nothing. It's been about 15 posts since anyone has said anything even half intelligent. I agree with the rather lengthy post about the Flyers outplaying expectations and having a great turnaround from last year. As do the Penguins, the Flyers have a lot of young, developing talent, and both teams should be good for a number of years. Hopefully, better than the stinky Rangers or Devils... Kudos to Pitt. for going from bankruptcy and enough losing seasons to get top draft picks to one of the top teams in the NHL. Oh, still rooting for the Flyers, though. Good luck! |

2 Take a little break, buddy. Wipe the spit off your computer screen. I'm sure one day you'll win one of these smack-talking contests--the same day Darien Hatcher wins the Lady Byng Award. |

All the Flyers have to do to be good is do what we did, be terrible for 5 years on the trot and get some good draft picks. Losing pays in the long run in the Ligue National du Hockey.

I've already completely shredded that argument on another thread. These two teams don't bear any resemblance whatsoever to those two teams. It was a pretty pathetic sight--the Flyers so upset they couldn't beat the Pens playing hockey that they trotted out the worst bottom-of-the-gene-pool goons they had for the final face-off and just started throwing punches. I know that's coming up on the menu here soon this time as well, but good luck with that--these Pens are twice as tough as the 2000 edition, and every bit as tough as these Flyers. |

1 Oh, you're going to cry about the unfairness of the draft system now, just like your owner? It's the same way you built your Stanley Cup teams of the '70s--you want to hand back those Cups? |

1 Does 3-0 mean anything? Who's the real terd here? Moron. Your Cryers will be on the golf course by the weekend. Have a nice summer. They have nothing to hang their heads about, they overachieved and got through the first two rounds and then their lack of depth and inferior coaching caught up with them. |

1 Lack of depth? Explain please. Offensively, the Flyers are 12 deep. Virtually any forward out there is a danger. No, it's defense that killed them this time. Both their's and the Pens. They lost the shut down play of Timonen, Coburn went down in Game 2, and Kokkunen and Modry would only be out there to rest Timonen and Coburn, or Hatcher and Smith. now they have to play full time...I guess that's what you meant by lack of depth, then. The Pens style of defense has killed the Flyers also. Putting 4 guys in the neutral zone, just waiting for the passes the Flyers love to make in the neutral zone. What happens? The Pens break up the passes, and the Flyers get no attack time. Give the Pens credit, and good luck to them in the Finals. |

As much as I hate the Pens, they have played well and even when they didn't they still found a way to win. Us Flyer fans can only look back at a successful season considering how bad last year was. Lets hope for a good season next year.
Good luck Pens in the finals! |

1 It must be frustrating to be such a loser. When your team loses you have to follow them and be a loser yourself. City of brotherly hate. |

Very well said, its seems like this is the Pens year. The flyers have had some extremely bad luck, and im not sure they could have won with Timmonen, but without him they cant win a game in this series.Still, from last year to this year the flyers have come far,and the future looks bright!I would say this year was an overwhelming success for Philly! As for the Pens, anyone who thinks Detriot is unbeatable, obviously missed theyre opening series.I read a few comments on here that said no one can beat the Wings.Gimme a break!Dallas stinks, and Detriot had a much easier road to the finals than the Pens. The Pens will bring the cup back to the east!!!! |
