After another terrible outing Clayton Richard on starting bubble

Clayton Richard barely had time to break a sweat Thursday during his shortest start of the season.

Clayton is most effective when his fastball sits at 90mph and is able to hit the zone. Lately, he's been overthrowing at 95mph and been pretty wild. Please spend some time with some guy named Mark Buerhle.

Remember how many people around here thought that Clayton was far better than Peavey and Oswalt? Once MLB hitters have seen a guy a couple times, everything changes for the middle of the pack pitchers and certainly the guys below them.
Don't expect much more out of Poreda, one pitch pitchers rarely do much. Maybe in a year or two......maybe.

Well according to Pulitzer prize winner Jim Richards, Clayton is going to be one of the best MLB pitchers.

Clayton Richard still isn't the answer as the fifth starter - he seems to be getting worse with every start. Now that they have found Bartolo Colon it will be interesting to see what he has left - if anything. It's now obvious that the Sox don't want Poreda to start until he developes a THIRD PITCH - the changeup? I'm still scratching my head regarding Sox fans who are reading Poreda's 2007 scouting report. One pitch pitchers can be good, but two pitch pitchers with a good fastball/slider combo adds up to a 0.90 era. The only other options are a trade or call up Carlos Torres from Charlotte.

Not going to be,"already is" is what he said.
The guy needs to do a George Costanza and just say the opposite of everything he thinks and he will be in shock at how often he is right about what he says, and ultimately he will be able to get a decent job and live in something better than a shack because of it.

Poreda has 5 pitches, but only one he can throw for a strike with any consistency. He'll be closing as soon as they trade Jenks. Just a guess, but I think it fits.

Ozzie didn't do Clayton any favors by pitching him on just 4 days rest. That's something you can ask one of your top pitchers to do, but messing with your shakiest pitcher's schedule is asking for trouble. That virtually guaranteed a loss today in order to "set up" the rotation for the Twins this weekend. Was it worth it?

Richard wants to get better obviously. The important thing is that with his attitude he will put in the effort and work and maybe he will read the Bible for pitchers "Pitching to Win" by Hal Newhouser.

just like last year when ozzie/kenny set up javy, sending him out on 3 days rest one or two times, he obviously didn't pitch well & he's under the bus & being bad-mouthed by ozzie/kenny. and then on the bus to Atlanta. i'm watching for this pattern to emerge with clayton richard.

Richard pitched on 3 days rest. Ozzie wanted to set his rotation so Floyd, Danks and Buehrle would pitch against the Twins this weekend.

It would have been better to give Poreda his first start last night.

What makes you so certain they are going to trade Jenks and others?

Did you ever think the team could actually be looking to add people as opposed to selling at the deadline?

I know it horrifies you, but the team could actually make the playoffs.

Besides - the team is very high on Jhonny Nunez as a potential closer.

Poreda's future has hardly been determined, nor has anyone else's for this season.
