This would be a good signing. I really think Jake Long is a great player and would help our OL out tremendously

Long really hasn't been injured that much and is a 4 time Pro Bowler. This last year was really the only year he struggled.

08 he suffered sprained ligaments to both knees.
11 torn labrium?
11 missed 2 games torn biceps tendon , arm
12 triceps injury wk 13 ended his season.
so it's not tooo bad?. the reason they may trade him is jonathan martin and nate garner have been doing the job good without jake long, and they are already training a (te) will yeaten as a tackle. to take place. trade talks were already in process 5 months ago! they say talks of contract are on going today but are on hold.
question is, are we willing to go after him?

I like Jake Long, but he wants 10 M a year to play offensive tackle. That's 1/12 of your salary cap.

Aren't you the same guy that was critical of him coming out of college? I like him and think he'd be worth the price

Yeah, i knew he was a great run blocker, but rarely was a quality pass protector in college. I was right, and wrong at the same time. Jake Long has proven to be a better pass protector than i assumed he would become in the nfl, but he isn't great at it by any stretch of the imagination.

The Fins moved Martin over to LT (his natural position) where he played well. They may be willing to let Long go considering that and his injuries if he demands Joe Thomas money.
