If the Buckeyes consider today's game a real victory then they have gotten soft over the years. The brand new Iowa QB looked like a season vet out there against that defense for the first four quarters. Pryor is nothing to call home about. OSU is going to have troubles against an Oregon or Stanford that likes to throw the ball all day long. Iowa QB proved that you can throw the ball on OSU successfully. I hope Iowa falls to the Capital One instead of getting a silly matchup against a TCU. Beating up on the SEC is more rewarding

I would like to say congratulations! The game today was hard fought by both teams. Clearly, the Buckeyes are much better than Iowa, however we were very lucky to come out with a win as we did not play our best game. For some unknown reason we only blitzed the newbie QB 2 or 3 times and even though he is good, we made him look that much better. Would it be safe to say our defensive safety's could have played much better, if you looked back you could have had an interception, esp. the one caught for a TD! There is no excuse for jumping off sides, especially on defense! We had better play much better next wk as MI will be ready. I have always felt that beating MI was more important than winning the Rose Bowl. Good luck, next wk boys, I hope you'll have better play calling on offense. WJM New Albany

They won all the games they were supposed to win and the loss to USC lose worse each week. I do not see a team that plays with passion. You can see when Pryor turns it up. We will stay a second tier BCS school and have no chance to win a National Championship until we make major changes.

I think this team has done an outstanding job...they're not quite there yet, the offense is unfortunately still hitting on 5 cylinders and this team should/could be a V8...however, given the 3 yards and cloud of dust approach JT has completely reverted to,...(boy, wouldn't Woody love his style!)... I think they have done about as much as they can...Now they don't dare overlook that team up north...then, someway, give their best effort they can muster coming out here for Rose Bowl time....Anything short will not be enough...Overall, a very good sucessful season to this point...more expected out of them next year of course!
As a side note, if JT becomes any more conservative he could very easily head up the Republican party chairmanship! My gosh, he really needs to start trusting his team a little more...it's getting scary!

It will only be considered a success when they beat that team up north next Saturday. A win in the Rose Bowl will make it an extremely successful season.

Winning the Big 10 is a fine accomplishment. But I'm afraid we're in for another bowl embarrassment.

Brutal play calling. Brutal!

I can't stand to see another BSC game blowout, but that's just what we are headed for.

Shameful.

The primary goal every year for as long as I have watched Ohio State Football ( 60 years) is to win the Big Ten and earn the Bid to the Rose Bowl. Goal accomplished. Prior to BCS the NC was chosen,(many still think it is) by the media and coaches polls , rather than on the field one on one. That game is reserved for those teams "voted" to be number1 and two, thus a seconary goal is to be "selected" to be one of those teams. Some my say failing to play in that game means your year is a failure, because you failed to occomplish your goal. I SAY ,Winning the conference is THE main goal to measure success and making the NC game is bonus, winning it is ephoria..Bottom line is, OSU was the favorite to win the big ten prio to the season and we acheived that goal. Winning the Rose Bowl is the icing on the cake...It will be sweet!!!Go Bucks !!

you call this a win its a joke. tressel calls plays like hes at y.s.u.. think about this, tressel won a national championship in 2002, with coopers boys, since then nothing. cant win the big one. that should tell you something. them theres pryor, garbage not even close to being a qb, freshmen make him look bad. osu has gone backwards.

Tressel recruited an athlete, not a quarterback, and convinced everyone they would open (spread) the offense. He still thinks having a split end on the field is a spread. The biggest problem with his incredibly unimaginative and vanilla play calling is that all it does is create the illusion of a team able to play on the national stage and who then fails miserably almost every time the opportunity presents itself. Tressel recruits great athletes and then doesn't develop and put them in a position to win -except during the regular season when having superior athletes compared to his opponent is enough to scrape by. No one doubts he is a great person, asset to the college and community and an amazing recruiter - but there are a dozen coaches out there with the guts and imagination to outcoach the hell out of him.

JT coached to win...BTW, we DID win. All I read is that he never mixes it up as it relates to play calling. Did you watch the game? The first several series were not what you normally see. We ran the ball extremely well and didn't ask TP to do more than he should - and he was turnover free. And don't take anything away from Iowa. They were well prepared and and coached too - conservatively, I might add. Oh, and did anyone catch the USC score? That fine freshman QB tossed some INT's which help spell DEFEAT for the men of Troy.
keep drinking the cool-aid. His predictable and ultra conservative calling holds us back and puts us in a position to lose. Did it look like Iowa was afraid their young qb was going to make a mistake? Hell no, they let him go and play! You tressel cool aid drinkers just have no clue when it comes to football coaching.

I would bet Iowa has a REAL QB COACH, not some video coordinator who only has a job is because he is a YSU boy...

EXCELLENT POST... I love how the Kool-Aide Drinkers judged you article but you're just telling the truth. We ran the ball 75% of the time today against a damn strong defense, what in the world was he thinking. Tresselball is all about playing not to lose and having everything go right and if it doesnt (KICKOFF RETURN FOR TD) you can be in trouble. Congrats to the Bucks on being BIG TEN CHAMPS but I've said this all season and I'll say it again.. GET AN OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR, FIRE BOLLMAN and GET A REAL QB COACH before we waste the incredible talent of TP!

We'll kill Michigan so no worries there. Except for Pryor. Kid is a great athlete. He needs to make quicker reads. He has receivers open coming off the line but he dances around confident he can run out of anything. He's looking for the perfect target but he's not hitting anyone coming out of their break. He's only a sophmore so I'm sure that will come in time as the coaches work with him.
Don't forget this team is so young it's unbelievable. Check the roster most are freshmen and sophmores. This group should get back the the National Championship in the next two years.

Go Bucks!! Beat Wolverines!! Then go take the Rose Bowl!!!

The Iowa game should not have been close! OSU has upper tier recruits and Iowa has average players. Tressel was out coached again, and his style of football limits great athletes from shining!
The Big Ten is average at best so they haven't accomplished much!
I've been a buckeye for 55 years and this is a very average team because of their average coach.

Lose to Michigan and wait for a PAC Ten beatdown on the Buckeyes in the Rose Bowl and this season is a disaster in my book. Ohio State still looks like a pretender especially after what Stanford, Washington, and Oregon did to USC. The vest still looks like he's afraid on the sidelines and has no imagination. BOTTOM LINE: Win the last two and it's a success. Good luck accomplishing that with coach scardy pants.
