Either job would pay him the same, this one has a better social status Best explaination I have read. They are trying to create the news instead of reporting it. Good job, Rick

the dood wrote: I don't really care about bad blood between O'Leary and the Sentinel -- lots of papers and coaches don't get along. I'm not surprised that O'Leary doesn't want to talk. What amazes me about all the comments here is that so many of you are crying out "why won't the slantinel support GOL and UCF?!" What makes you think that newspapers aren't supposed to print negative/critical stories? If newspapers operated the way most of you are demanding the Sentinel should, then things like Watergate would never have been reported by the Washington Post. Barry Bonds would have never been implicated in the steroids scandal. Human rights violations, government corruption, wrongful deaths -- these things are what newspapers exist for. If you want to read nothing but rosy, positive happy press about UCF, then look at the UCF website and read the press releases. I'm not saying you have to agree with any of the things the Sentinel writes, but don't demand that the Sentinel "get behind" or "support the local teams" -- that's not what newspapers are here for. We don't want them to "get behind" or "support the local teams." We want them to cease coverage of UCF in general as it is extremely obvious their reasoning is exclusively sensationalistic. UCF business owner wrote: <quoted text> It is one thing to be proud of graduating from an institution--I'm sure many graduates of UF, FSU, Miami, UCF, and USF feel the same way. However, your arrogance, the fact that you believe you are better than others because you went to a school YOU perceive is "better" is a shameful character trait, and one that wreaks of a feeling of inferiority. Go on thinking how great you are. I, for one, would never hire you. First of all, nothing in my post gave the impression that I was any better than anyone else. I was simply providing another perspective on how the budget cuts will affect the University. The feeling of inferiority seems like your reality, not mine. Secondly, you obviously have a preconceived dislike for the U of F; otherwise you wouldn’t have taken my words out of context. I’m not the one who ranked UF in the top 50 for all Universities in the country and in the top 20 for all public Universities. Did you know that our online MBA program is the number one program in the world? Regardless, UF is a research University and the better perception it has among the people who matter, the better off we all are because the school will receive more grants, which means more research, more jobs, etc, etc, etc. Your kid could be the beneficiary of one of those student assistantships that are funded by those grants. Just remember how important UF has been in creating technologies that better our society the next time you slurp down that Gatorade…

A termite infested shed in the middle of nowhere was sprayed with it. Not only did it kill the termites, but it stopped the reproduction of termites within a 1,000 yard radius! And it lasts for FIVE YEARS ! Know what university developed it??? UCF. Thank you very much.

And I guess you did NOT read how he was removed from the team within 18 hours. He turned himself in at about 5 am to GPD, and was off the team by 5 pm the same day. You can't necessarily predict who will behave badly, but you sure can boot them as soon as they show their true colors. Instead, you'd rather have a crook running the whole show over there -- a proven liar and loser. Bryan wrote: <quoted text> Dumb @$$, I was giving you props. My point was that the Sentinel should be giving more support to the home town team. Me and all the people I have tickets w/ have had season tickets since 2002. Yes, there are some bagon people, but tickets sales are bound to go up just by the number people graduating. The location was a big deal too. Also, UF also beats UCF in another thing, players arrested. I especially like how the guy used his friends, dead girlfriends credit card. Classy.

Can you PROVE the statement about Termidor being created at UCF? Because I never heard anything about that, and I can't find any verification on the Internet... Did you have a point? Basically UCF will always be the Valencia of four year Florida universities. A giant commuter school -- students get their degree and then leave with no real sense of tradition or loyalty. The Fly wrote: <quoted text> Ridiculous, nice pot shot. Your credibility is oh, zero - doh. How about a critical thinking course to formulate an arguement in the "if/then" structure? Did you do your research on the enrollment of UCF or the number of students matriculating from that school before writing your incoherent babble? Look, I can sound just like you "Ridiculous isn't very intelligent, if UF had a better season than 9-4 last year he/she would be a community leader"

Have you been to UCF? Have you been to USF? How about UNF? I've been to all three and I promise you, UCF is not a commuter school. If anything, UNF is "the Valencia of 4 year Florida universities" and probably always will be. I've graduated and left the school, as have my friends. We still return for games and sometimes concerts. I meet up with UCF alums here in Jax to watch away games. Just because you personally have not felt any "loyalty" from UCF students, don't make blanket statements.

Anyway, My only points are that by cutting the budget, UF is achieving it's goal of reducing the number of admitted students more quickly, and it's a research University, so the more recognition it gets, the better off we are.

Come on, you're not dumb enough to cite misinformation that's easily obtained from an internet search, are you? 4 medical researchers from UF developed Gatorade, on campus, at the request of the football coach over his frustration with dehydration of his players. Any research conducted at any University remains the ownership of the University. Talk about desperation!
