Yes,but when the Islanders were terrible they went out of their way to tell people that these practices were free and open to the public everyday. Now that they show signs of climbing out of the basement, they change their policys.Terrible job by a terrible team

"Still, all eyes will be on Tavares, the goal scorer with the potential to develop into an NHL superstar. It's an opportunity any coach would welcome, but it is accompanied by a huge management responsibility to maximize Tavares' talents." For once Logan hits the nail on the head. This really is the question. Again: think Detroit. So many on their roster were late-round picks. Is Detroit really that good a judge of talent, or is it their system/coaching? Why don't the Isles have a highly-regarded farm system? Drafting? Or coaching?
My apologies from yesterday...

Islanders no longer the fan friendly team they used to be.Practice closed to the public!! That's never happened before!!! Don't alienaite your fans just because you have 1 player now!! Terrible move by the Islanders PR people here. You WANT the fans there!! You want the BUZZ!! Another stupid move by this organization.1 step foward and 2 steps back!!
Practice is open to last year's season ticket holders. We have the choice of one of three days either today, Monday, or Tuesday. I was told that there will be Isles sales reps to renew the plans for this year and i'll dig around to find out if there will be any public viewings of practice and get back to everyone as I'll be there Monday to watch.

Because Mad Mike vaporized the farm system. We actually have prospects again...
Dnt worry-everybody will know who Scott Gordon is after this season.
I hate to say this but you're worng. We don't have that good a farm system. We're still under-sized and full of mostly good to really good players. We're lacking those great to excellent players. I have a feeling this season will be more of the same from last year in order to continue to stock pile what we need...great talents. But I think we're most certainly headed in the right direction!

Get Dvorak over here and that could help get Kirill over here quicker. He said he wants to play in the NHL and Dvorak could be a GREAT RW role model for the younger players.

Sorry Lets Go Isles, you are wrong.I just called my Isles ticket rep (I am a long time season ticket holder)and season ticket holders can NOT make appointments to go to rookie camp.CLOSED TO EVERYONE,except for Sunday. On a serious note, this is not right, and I am considering NOT renewing next season if the Isles aren't as fan friendly as they used to be.That was a hugh selling point to me.

The Saga Continues-
The Islanders have hyped up this kid too much so did the media- There's going to be way too much pressure on him and Islanders fans will not be patient with him- Hopefully for JT's sake he comes out of the gate fast-

There's a few reasons:
1) We added only 1 scorer who's not even proven a thing in the NHL yet

2) Same d-men and they're all injury prone and little to no depth yet.

3) Still only one #1 goalie who knows with DP and no proven back-up

4) No Enforcer

agreed.... the farm system seems to be chock full of solid 3rd line players..

Give it another 2 years...

Isles/Rangers facing each other again in the playoffs.... It's gonna be sick

1)-Dnt worry it wnt take long before Tavares proves he belongs.

2)Our dmen are good. But youre right some of them are injury prone.

3) Im not sure what you mean. Our Goalie situation is in much better shape than it was last year at this time...even without DP. If Roloson stays healthy-we are going to be in good shape between the pipes.

4) Enforcer-give it time.

Im sorry but you only addressed one of a few major issues we had as a team last year my friend...the goalie situation. We are in better shape back there. Another reason we'll be better than last season-there is no way we lose as many guys to injury as we did. If we do-yeah it'll be like last season.
Also-we have a gm, coach and players on the same page going into the season....a major improvement from last year. And it helps most of these guys have had a year to play together and go through some growing pains.

Realistically- if this team can avoid the injury bug that hit last year-there is reason to believe the 2009-10 Islanders will better-

Libra

You know what they say about this being the season of goodwill to all men? Well, you get the chance to put it into action today by being understanding, tolerant and compassionate towards the people you meet. This doesn't mean you should condone anything awful that they do, but simply that you need to look beyond that to the larger picture.
