No, that's incorrect. That possessive 's rule only applies to nouns, not pronouns. Pronouns have their own possessive forms (possessive determiners like "my" and possessive pronouns like "mine").
it's = it is
its = belonging to it
There might be a special exemption for certain Stephen King novels, but that's it.
If you would take the time to read any further you would see that I corrcted myself in the following post. Thanks for being so observant.

Well isn't it nice that the I.E. is raising a dumber class of criminals.
These boys weren't the sharpest knife in the drawer lucky for quick draw mcgraw they were stupid.
Well now they won't be able to steal for a living from a wheel chair.
So much for that five finger discount.
Prison is such a nicer place then freedom and having choices like McDonalds or Burger King.
But then again it will be slop for these idiots for the next twenty years to life.
Enjoy those beans boys their just yummy.

i think that everyone would be singing a different tune if this guy wasnt a cop... dude wouldve been arrested for what he did... as a cop, couldnt he just shoot them in the kneecaps instead of aiming for the head? and then laughed while they cried? personally i wouldve delighted more in seeing them suffer a bit than letting my kids see me kill a man...
whatever though, we can all debate and discuss.. chances are the majority of the people posting here would b*tch out if they were put in the same situation..
Nat, apparently you've never been in a fight or had to fight two people at once. Otherwise you wouldn't say anything as stupid as "couldn't he have just shot them in the kneecaps". When you're struggling with two people at once, with beer bottles being broken over your head, you do what you can to save your life. It's not like you can just stand back and say, "Well, I guess I'll just take careful aim and shoot a kneecap or two". It doesn't work that way. You do whatever you can to survive.

so i guess stepping back and striking the head was a lucky shot huh? think about it, if you're wrestling with even 1 other person chances are that you wont strike the head.. chances are you would get a body shot..now throw another person into the mix...
youd prob be the lil fag that wouldve just said "take what ever you want" instead of fighting for it... its much easier to say you'd do what it takes to survive than to actually do it...

This idiot is proof I am god mentality the police now have.
He simply could have waited for back up not open the door for his kids to witness a violent act.
Now he will have to explain that to them for the rest of their lives.
Yes it is becoming a jungle out their and if your not careful you will be eaten.
The best part of this is these idiots will now ride around ina wheelchair for the rest of their lives.
They will now have to deal with the fear people will do this to them.

Just the opposite Nat. I've been the guy who had to fight my way out when I was hit over the head from behind with beer bottles. I've been there, I don't have to think about it. You still obviously don't know what you're talking about.

This officer was was struggling with two people. You're attempt to compute the likelyhood of having a body-shot with probables is laughable. You've been watching "NUMB3RS" on t.v. too much. This was reality. He fired when he got the chance. Whether it turned out to be a head-shot or a body shot wasn't something he had time to contemplate. He fired. What happened is what happened. Too bad you can't comprehend that.

And no, I didn't give up anything. I ended up with one ear sliced in half and glass in my head. But I lived, didn't lose, and kept my wallet and my money.

This cop endangered everyone in the parking lot. Did you know that cop bullets fail to hit their targets 70% of the time? In this case, we're just lucky that the backstop was a bad guys face and not some 9 year old Angels fan walking to his car.

The jerk cop should have backed off and attempted to detain or retreat if needed, not blast away. Bottom line,he got lucky this time with these shots...it could have been an innocent person nearby that paid the cost.

I'm glad for two things - the bad guy got his due, and the officer will be in court for the next 2 years over the impending civil suit by the bad guy's dirt bag family and their free attorney.

Cops should not be allowed to carry off duty. Statistically, they are simply too irresponsible.

This guy went all Rambo over those guys.
The cop was a threat to every person in that parking lot.
What he didn't do was exercise the right amount of judgement in dealing with the situation.
This cop should be suspended until a outside investigation is done.
One that the police have no control over.
I don't or will not beleive what that officer or his employer says.
Due to the fact they often lie about situations and the truth and the cops really add up to the same conclusions.

Cops are not much different than other folks. Cops and cop unions spend a lot of time trying to make cops look like heros - maybe they should focus their efforts on working with cops to teach them how not to be idiots.

Here's a great video on why cops should not carry guns when off duty:

Here's a great video that demonstrates the intelligence of many cops:

Your video about why a cop should not carry a weapon off duty does not support your argument. The off duty or plain clothes officer was out of line. Although the threat of a gun in the scenerio a big factor there was not a gun drawn by any of the officers. The off duty officer is an embarrassment to all law enforcement officers and hopefully he was severely reprimanded (fired). His actions do not represent the thought of all law enforcement officers throughout the country. In your second video you are claiming that cops are not intelligent. Quite the contrary my friend. Many law enforcement officers are college educated and many have military training. True some idiots slip through the cracks, but you can say the same for many doctors, lawyers, politicians and other so called professionals. Your links do not support an argument in any manner. In fact, maybe you should follow this link about an UNARMED, off duty Deputy Sheriff killed only because of the profession he chose. I would venture to say that had he and his girlfriend (also an unarmed, off duty Deputy Sheriff)been armed he would be alive today. In fact maybe you should browse the host site a little.

Next time you are outnumbered and being struck in the head by a beer bottle you can reflect back and think about what a threat to every person in the parking lot you are in.

He did use the right amount of judgement dealing with the situation. He did not hesitate and made a tough decision not wanting to leave his wife a widow and kids without a father. That is good judgement

I guess you don't believe the independent witness that support the officers statement. You scare me that you may some day sit in a jury pool.

The links were for entertainment only.

But, the gun in the cop vs cop video changed the nature of the arrest. Did you not hear the first thing the arresting cop said when back up arrives, something like "he's armed" or "he's got a gun"? Yeah, the gun played a huge role. A gun does not need to be drawn to be a factor. And that is why off duty cops should not carry, because it emboldens them to be even bigger idiots than many of them are when unarmed.

7-11 Clerks and Taxi Drivers have far more risky jobs, and they are often killed simply because they are doing their job. I'll support a few (but not all) cops carrying off duty after we start letting all law abiding citizens that want to carry to carry.

For your viewing pleasures, a few more videos of cops being cops (these are easy to find)...

And here's one of cops after REAL criminals (skateboarders)

And keep in mind, most cops are NOT college educated. Most PD departments only require a high school education...and going to the academy is NOT the same as going to college.

Yes I was the vitim of one of those rambo cops.
My employer who was mad at me for a workmen's comp issue told the adjuster I had a light duty job waiting for me.
I returned to work only to find I was lied to and there was no job and no workmen's comp benefits.
I left there not feeling well with the pain in my arm and shoulder so severe I couldn't drive.
I was taken to the doctor's office by my father.
While I was being x rayed my employer being the snake he is called the police.
I got home from the doctor's office and my father helped me undress due to the injury to my hand and shoulder and helped me eat my luch.
The police car pulled into my driveway and my father stepped out to ask him what was wrong.
He assaulted my father who was 70 at the time knocking him to the ground with a baton.
Shoved his way into my home.
When my dog came around the corner to see what was going on he shoved my dog into the wall.
Knocking a hole through the wall with his body and pointing a gun at me.
I was arrested for trespassing and but before I left my home I was able to call the workmen's comp attorney and a family attorney.
The workmen's comp attorney wanted to talk to him to explain I was supposed to be there.
His answer was you screwed with the wrong people and your going to prison for life.
My criminal attorney who tried to talk to him was told I don't have to listen to people like you.
I was driven to the local parish jail.
My paperwork was stalled and then lost.
My criminal attorney couldn't find me and the cops told him I wasn't in jail
After he recieved a collect call from me proving I was in jail.
He was able to provide the number to a judge who then placed a couple of phone calls and the arrest paperwork and everything suddenly appeared.
Then I was told by the officers I was going to be shipped out of town and to the far end of the state and denied medical attention and pain medicine the whole time.
Before they could screw me over and ship me where no one could find me the judge ordered them after my bond papers were filed to release me to my attorney.
I was later able to prove my employer a liar along with the cop.
They never faced any charges and while I was suing my employer numerous threats were made against me for filing the workmen's comp papers.
The D.A. didn't want to pursue charges after I proved I was supposed to be there and that they lied to the police.
My attorney filed papers to have my shoulder surgery and wrist surgery paid for by my employer
They paid for it a year after my injury and recently settled the false arrest lawsuit.
I left my old life behind but due to that police officer I fear every cop who crosses my path.
I used to go out of my way to do good things and help others being raised to help my fellow man.
Now I don't poke my nose into anything and when I see a dispute or arguement I walk away it is none of my business.
Yes I have learned a valuable lesson that all cops lie they will steal if given the chance and send innocent people to prison everyday and this cop is one of them.
By the way you will never learn the truth because of the blue wall of silence.
So when you sit on the stand ask yourself is he lying to us.
Let the d.n.a do the talking and listen to the judge's instructions.
The cops will openly lie to you and smile while doing it.

<quoted text>
Wow you really make no sense. Support only a few off duty officers to carry weapons once citizens are allowed to carry? Everyday citizens do not receive the training that officers receive. They do not have to go through an extensive background process as law enforcement officers do. Officers not only face prosecution as everyday citizens, they also can lose their jobs. Besides, I am sure when you are walking through a store someone will not recgnize you for shortchanging them at Burger King and want to take revenge against you. Police Officers make numerous contacts everyday and do not recognize everyone they arrest and never know when that person may want exact their revenge.

True, most departments only require a GED at minimum. However, they require a person to have common sense, good judgement, and good moral character. That is something you cannot learn all that in college. In fact, many guys I went to college with would not pass a background check. Not to say some bad apples slip through the cracks and I think everyone forgets that law enforcemnet officers are human and can make mistakes. The difference is that law enfocement officers can lose their jobs for making a mistake. They also can face criminal charges and face civil suits.

True the academy is not college, but it is an experience few have the intestinal fortitude to endure.

By the way, the gun did not change the "nature" of the arrest, changed the dynamics of the contact. It did not play a "huge role" because if it was such a "huge role" the other officers would have had him at gun point. The on duty officers handled the situation well, it was the off duty officer that escalated the contact.

So maybe instead of browsing the internet to find video clips to try and embarrass the law enforcement community you should get off your dead rear and take the test or at least do some ride alongs so you could get some insight into what theses men and women go through.
