Powerful China would be good for World ONLY if China can learn to respect her own people and protect her own people from excessive pollution by China's industry which is polluting air, earth and sea which hurts Chinese people first and world later. If China cannot respect her own people she will never respect other countries people. This is most important step China needs (now that her economy is strong) to control her pollution to safeguard her own people's health.

China has formally 1.5 billion billion people and is said that having another 100 million people.China also have unbalance in gender. They have about 100 million overspill males.Because many Chinese parents must have 1 child in a family. So they prefer having a boy due to 1 child policy.Overspilled 100 millions of Chinese males will fuck your and my girl-freinds, wives, girls, sisters. Then small nations like Mongolia will be assimilated into China and disappear ethnically. Western ,American,Canadian,Europian must understand that China far more dangerous than Russia. Because Russia has got only 130 million people and vast territory where have huge natural resource reserve. All territory of them are fertile forests having 10% of World's arable land. There are many rivers and lakes which which backs Russia will never face fresh water-shortage.Russian population density is very low ,7 people in per KM.Russian population growth is about 0 .So Russia don't need any foreign territory and natural recourses. They are full up to ear with problems to keep their own territory. In contrast China has 1.5 billion people and 2-nd of 3-rd of Chinese territory is deserts and unfertile dry Tibet mountains. So they need more fertile lands to grow vegetables and rices to provide food, fresh water supply for their huge population.and cheap raw material for their industry. PLEASE, BE AWARE OF CHINESE AND INDIAN MEN WAVE (tsunami)! China will release the limit of 1 child policy after Olympic.then Chinese 1.5 billion population will grow rapidly and China will be more agressive

A stronger China will help establish a greater balance of power. One of the biggest differences in foreign policy between Beijing and Washington is that Beijing's number one priority is China; Washington is too busy meddling in the internal affairs of other nations.

A rising power is never good for the sitting power, and that's why we had the cold war, and that's why US is doing what it can to derail China.

...that would be nice if the yellow and brown race over-whelmed the pale race and wiped out the viral mentality of this race with zen mentality. There would be less racism.

I say bring it on. If the USA is that fearful, then China's assassin's mace will take care of the US.

In the history of civilization, every powerful nation eventually will fall.

Germany and Japan rose out of the ashes of totalitarianism and are a threat to no one. They are both vibrant, prosperous democracies that are at peace with their neighbors.

China rise will not threaten the world if her political system reflects the will of her people. If China still has an outdated, one party state in the next 15 to 20 years then she will be a competitor and a rival. But I doubt China will rise to the level of the Western world without the accompanying political reform that is needed through political liberalization. There is not one outdated one party state with a semi-free market economy that is an advanced country. It does not exist.

Keep trying to Chinese dudes.. China is not there yet so all you guys doing is blowing hot air.

Please name me one, reputable Chinese company that can compete on a global level!! Just one! Uno, Un, Ein?? LOL

Your the type of dumbass who brings Hitler to power. Yep, Hitler had the popular suppor when he became Chancellor of Germany. Don't just assume popular support = good government. Should also question what really is popular suppor? Is Us governemnt now enjoying popular support? Is it reflecting the will of the American people? Also should look at Japan (one party) and singapore ( authoritarian) and check out how they compete with rest of the world.

Japan and Germany are big economically, however, they can never compete with US as a dominant power again. That is the key reason why China is being antagonized so much now a days, because it is outside of control of US and can become a competitor even more powerful than the former USSR. True, China is not yet US's equal, but its the potential of China that is scary. You are the kind of Zino phobe who preach threat of China and dismiss it as a power at the same time. Don't you find that contradicting?

USA and its allies are undergoing a typical grief reaction over China's rise.
There are five stages in a typical grief reaction:
denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.
1) denial stage
Initially they try to denial China's importance.
Typically they predicted China will collapse the following week.
They ve gone pass the denial stage in the 90s.

2) Anger stage
Angry with everything China does, exergerating in every possible ways to incriminate China. Look at the number of US posters claiming that China is guilty of genocide in Tibet. Look at the number of bogus NGOs the NED have created to lie about China, we are in the middle of the the anger stage.

3)bargaining stage
At this stage Americans may need to talk to their preachers or God or Dalai Lama and seek comfort.

4) Depression stage.
When bargaining doesn't help they go into degression. With the rising unemployment and housing crisis we may reach this stage pretty soon.

5) finally acceptance of China as a great power.
Pure crap

This is from a premier American news organization?
This is absolute trash commentary!

"The Chinese are working to expand their influence around the world for one reason: to make it possible for more and more of their people to live like Americans do."

well said, its like a evolution. humanity is not perfect that why we see all these hatred, jealously and undeserve arrogance and ignorant coming from both sides.

Chinese alot have accepted or rather got numb from all these racist and effort that try so hard to derail them and yet fail.

Its the yin and yang thing, as china continues rise, so will the chinese experience first hand what is "being hated with a passion" simply becoz they are better than others. Chinese will understand and know how Americans feels when everywhere around the world ppl are burning american flags calling for the death of america. They will share the same feeling. Chinese will see the fate US faced and will try everything to avoid the same fate.

Hopefully china is pragmatic enuff to stir itself from such a perception and not be another america.

china is just in the process that Europe or Amerian have experienced. this is the development process, the pollution is inevitable. just think that the 1890s-1950s in Europe or America. all the pollition is spearded into the world.so if you think that chinese pollution is not acceptable, just think about past of Europe???

in chinese 5000years history, is there any pollutions? but after 200years from Europian industrial process, all the pollution is come out, so pls think more about the ways of development,do not criticize Chinese goverment and China. we are in the process of your Europe or America have experieced.
