I hate to pile it on but this type of "problem" seems to be the kind that Gov. Blagojevich seems drawn to - like a butterfly to fire.

I agree with the other posters that I wish the governor would turn his attention to the more substantive problems that our state faces.

It takes a screwball-loser governor to try to keep a screwball-loser team like the cubs at wrigley Field. Why doesn't he try to implement a plan for senior citizens to get free tickets to see the cubs play their brand of loser baseball? That way he'll have some supporters when he makes appearances at cubs games. While he sits in his luxury skybox seat and asks himself why his govornorship was as big a joke as the cub baseball on the field. Wake up Chicago - stop torturing yourselves. There's actual baseball being played on the south side of your beautiful city. Let the cubs go to Jacksonville, Florida!

If this useless embarrassment of a governor wants the Cubs to stay at Wrigley, there's one guaranteed way he can make that happen. Refuse to let the state have any part in the Wrigley/Cubs deal. No private investor would even dream of moving the Cubs out of the city or destroying Wrigley. Such a thing would only be possible through state involvement. But if the state didn't get involved, there would be no kickbacks for Rod's friends. We couldn't have that now could we?

This has nothing to do with being a Cubs fan or Cubs hater. The state of Illinois has no more business operating sports facilities than it does movie theaters, and it's simply not plausible that they have a compelling interest in whether or not the Cubs ever play another game in Wrigley Field. Don't pretend everyone else is an idiot like the governor is doing and claim it's because of the tax revenue, as that revenue is very small relative to the budget.
