ahhh yeah... bigtime move by the Vikes.

a proven player like Allen is worth both the picks and money. This isn't the Walker trade. This is a step forward.

This did come at a steep price but when you spend 6 1st round picks, among a number of 2nd's and 3rd's on DE since drafting Doleman and the only double-didget sack recorder is Lance Johnstone a situational pass rusher, you have problems.

Now we just need a tackle in the second round and this could be a very successful off season.

Here come the playoffs!

The Vikes are going to have a great deal invested in Allen. Let's hope he doesn't go out and celebrate his new contract by getting drunk, and driving. Do the Vikes have a clause in the contract to protect themselves if Allen get's suspended for a year?

That said, it's nice to have an owner who's willing to invest in the Vikes for a change. Who knows? Maybe the Vikes will get a new stadium if they win the Superbowl.(I'm personally against State funding of stadiums to benefit billionaires.)

Boy, talent wise this is great. I go with Napolean Harris, the D-Line just got extremely better. Finally the Vikes can put PRESSURE ON THE QUARTERBACK. I just hope they protected themselves in the contract in case the drinking thing becomes a problems. This is alot of money and the character think has been their issue all along, but they neede to do this. GO VIKINGS.

The possible new purple people eaters. If McCauley loses his spot in the nickel or dime package Move him to safety behind Sharper. Move M. Johnson to guard quit wasting his talent on the bench. He is not the answer at tackle. Draft a developement QB in the fourth round. Please get a decent tight end. This could be a season to remember. T. Jack is not that bad. It took Eli M. four seasons to see the light.

Does ANYBODY think the Vikes are thinking.... Dam! Why didn't we think of protecting ourselves..... YES THEY DID!!! They have one of the best front offices in the league.'zynsky (too lazy to look up the spelling) has saved the Vikes Millions in contract incentives. Anybody who thinks the Vikes went blindly into this...... You just don't get it then! Now Purple Peaople Eaters??? Man, it is close..... but lets see what he does.

The Vikings finished the 2007 season needing a top WR, starting safety, reliable backup QB, and most importantly, a pass rushing DE. You have to give it up to the Vikings ownership and front office for filling all those needs.

Jared Allen was a drunk...not an alcoholic. There's a difference--a big difference. His drinking was part of his overall wild-man personality, and now, he'd let it go. An excellent piece in the Kansas City Star not long ago chronicled how Allen's grandfather steered him toward reforming. I have no concerns whatsoever about any relapse.

One first round, and both #3s. Plus, Vikes exchanged picks with KC in one of the other rounds, to get a better position.
WOW!!! THIS is going to be one helluva defense! Another bonus, is that the other DEs will really crank-up their own game.
NOW, use the rest of the picks to start work on the "O" line.
