Well when you're used to tucking your genitals between your legs, like a puppy dog, you aren't used to "going for it", trying to make some yardage, or trying to make something happen. Tressel's favorite play is to give the straight handoff left/right, or take the knee. Oh yeah..........and punt (for 31 yards). What a beauty. Can't wait till Oregon or Arizona shows us how to call offensive plays.
Shoot, Iowa's red-shirt freshman was slinging it around, burning Chekwa countless times. Didn't see that pathetic conservatism from the under-manned Hawkeyes.
I don't like the way Tressel runs the offense either. Ohio State needs a QB who can actually pass the ball and that's not Pryor.

Doesn't help that he isn't that great of a passer to begin with, combined with the fact that he's given play calls from a coach who is as pathetic a play-caller as I've seen across the country.
Yeah but JT isn't the one on the field playing. You can't blame him for everything that goes wrong. I know that he makes the decisions but still Pryor is the one who throws interceptions, fumbles the ball, and can't complete a pass. I don't understand why everyone acted like TP was so great to start with!

I love OSU football and have since I can remember and at 58 years old, that is a long time.
As much as I love the Buckeyes, watching their games is like surgery without anesteshia (sorry, no spell check here). I mean it is agonizing and painful. We should have beaten USC, but Tressel is worse than conservative. He is byeond ridiculous. TP is fast and explosive. What kind of ball did he pay in HS? A pocket passer he is not. I fret over meeting Oregon in the Rose Bowl. We are gonna get creamed. The defense will be on the field and get worn out.
But, I guess we got to take the good with the bad with Tressel. But his play calling sucks.

For the second straight game TP game out and did what he had to do to win. Cant you be happy for a 20 year old who just won the Big Ten? If you guys remember Troy Smith and Texas QB Vince Young had a worse collegiate start then TP. All this hate for Tress, he just won his fifth Big Ten championship, can we wake up and realize he is winning games?
Just watched a postgame show with two former players saying Tressel has to cut loose. Now thats coming from actual players not sofa coaches. To play Tressel ball you need a dominant line which we havent had for 9 years. His system would work if we had the line to back it up. Pryor will be just fine, just let him loose.

I am from Minnesota and a fan of the Minn Twins. I always get a kick out of Buckeye fans and their copycatting hanky waving they got from Twins fans. They do pretty good at it but never as good as the Twins fans that make it look like a blizzard with what they call Homer Hankies. Twirling towels like the Steelers do just doesn't cut it either...nice try Bucks fans but you can thank the Twins fans for introducing how it really should be done.

To all you nutcases who still wantto pour mouth and challenge OSU even when they played their guts out to beat Iowa. Consider: Pryor completed 83% of his passes; the Iowa QB 60%. OSU held Iowa to 67 yards rushing. OSU played error free ball; Iowa committed 3 turnovers. All the hoopla about Iowa's QB is nonsense. Did not OSU have a field goal kicker playing nmed Devlin Barclay playing in only his 3rd game? By the way he made 3 extra points and 2 field goals or nine points! So shut your pour mouthing and enjoy the win you cteeps.
come on numb nut - It's the play calling! The lack of offensive identity. How many times did we run up the middle? I'll bet 75% of the game. SICKENING! We win because Tressel has done a good job in recriiting the best athletes. We lose because of poor coaching period. Tressel is the worst play calling ignoramous in NCAA football. Ok- go ahead all you cool-aid drinking Tress supporters - go ahead and rip me. If you don't agree with me it's because you simply do not understand football

Beockman had the luxury of throwing to three pro receivers that made him look ALOT better than he was. Then again Beockman was getting sacked all the time too which made him a little gun-shy and killed his confidence. If OSU wins the next two it will be all heart and kudos to the team for todays victory. BEAT MICHIGAN!

Maybe it is because Twins fans didnt have much joy in their life before Kirby Puckett and was issued a crying hanky before each game. I am a Reds fan so could I borrow your old one? Sure could use it.

The Buckeyes came through when theynhad to. Great defense in overtime and a sterling field goal by Barkley to send OSU to the Rose Bowl. Call Jim Tressel conservative, but he just won his 5th Big Ten title in a row! The Bucks were basically mistake free again. That's more then we can say for Penn State and Iowa in the BG games!!! Bob Cromwell
WOW! Another Buckeye BRAINIAC?!??! Watch out for Michigan... At least Iowa beat them! Can your Buckeyes?? Then you get Oregon or Stanford- he he he

Am I the only one that had to hit the mute button during the second half of the game? I couldn't take any more of the two bozo announcers constant adulation of the Iowa quarterback and coach. Plus, while my bloodpressure is elevated, did ABC REALLY think we wanted to be looking at never ending shots of the Iowa bench and fans in the stands while the play was starting? What has THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY done to deserve the constant meadia bashing? Thanks for listening, now, DESTROY THE NEXT OPPONENT!!!!
You're not the only one; my wife came down to find out what I was yelling at - it was the ABC crew and cameras - I credit Iowa and esp. their QB for showing moxie and heart, but stop with the coach shots, sideline shots, and run on prose about the QB, and give me the play on the field and some compentent analysis of what's going down on the field. Where were the announcers to disect JT's play calling? Was JT seeing something on the field that we weren't on TV?

How is Pryor supposed to develop into a good QB? They don't use him! This freshman for Iowa will develop because they are not going to hold him back. Same with Barkley for USC.

You could see in pryor's eyes he wanted and expected more out of Tressel's play calling./ He was defiant. I would have walked over after the game and punched tressel in the mouth. What a lack of confidence in and coaching of the best recruit in the country. What a waste. Why would any top QB recruit in the country come to OSU?

Sorry I missed it. Just who were these former players. If these former players played for Tressel, then they have championship jewelry. The "let Pryor loose" philosophy was tried and failed miserably. Manage the game, 230 yards rushing, plus 8 nminutes time of possession has been much more successful.

Go Buckeyes

Which brings me to what is perhaps a tough question about behavior I see not just in this forum but elsewhere:

Why is losing a football game called an exposure? And why is the loser called a fraud? Football teams don't set out to fool anyone, with the possible exception of the other football team on the same field. All they want to do is win as many football games as they can. They have very little to do about the artificially overblown place in the weekly AP poll they are accused of occupying.

So why is it we treat the football teams themselves as suspects in a conspiracy when coaches and sportswriters come closer to being the guilty parties? I don't get it.
