Browns Have Sights On Oregon's Chip Kelly

There are 13 comments on the NBC4i.com story from Jan 3, 2013, titled Browns Have Sights On Oregon's Chip Kelly. In it, NBC4i.com reports that:

Kelly, whose up-tempo, fast-paced offense has captured the imagination of several NFL teams and maintained the Ducks' status as a national power, appears to be near the top of Cleveland's list of candidates to replace Pat Shurmur, fired earlier this week after going 9-23 in two seasons.

He's certainly something the Browns need - an offensive- minded coach capable of coaching NFL players and ready to bring some excitement and excellence to the field.

Here's hoping they get him, which would make up somewhat for their failure to get RGIII...

I'd rather stay at Oregon....Cleveland's a downgrade.....plus, they weren't smart enough to give Pat Shurmer enough time.....

Chip Kelly is an a--hole. Ditto his fellow Irishman at Pedophile St., O'Brien. BOTH played the Browns and other teams for suckers and at least one has already gotten a pay raise for "staying," O'Brien.

Here's hoping PSU takes a nose dive and the NCAA takes the sanctions to Oregon. These clowns need to pay for their fake "searches" for NFL jobs. Hint, fellas - don't apply for a job you don't want and aren't prepared to do.

In the long run, the Browns will probably hire someone better and more experienced anyway, so it may not hurt them at all. Might even work out better. We'll see.

...Apologies to Brown's fans, but that team represents a lose-lose situation...competeing in a division with Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cincinnatti....for an owner that is thrifty and give's you all of only a two-year window.....Shurmer was turning it around, see what happened to him?

Hopefully new ownership will be more committed to winning. Yes, it's a tough division, but the Steelers are down, the Bengals aren't unbeatable, and the Ravens may be fading a bit with Lewis retiring and their defense aging.

Shurmur wasn't turning it around, unless one more win this year than last is "turning it around..." :)
no way

Jesus...now they've hired CHUDZINSKI. Just shoot me now. This guy will be 2-and-done just like Shurmur.

The Browns seem to WANT to wallow in failure. SSDD, it seems...
clueless

I for one , like the hire. Why do all these teams sign former head coaches that were fired by another team. Do you think they were fired for a reason. Chud will do a good job coaching this team. The Ravens and Steelers are old and will not be at the top of the division for long. I like the BROWNS to take control of this division this year. They will also have a very good O..C. to help the Head Coach out. I see this as a vast improvement over the last years.

GO BROWNS !!!!!!!!

I remember when Chud was the stud TE at The U. Also, he was TE coach at The U and coached Bubba Franks, Jeremy Shockey, and Kellen Winslow II. He's hardly a sure thing at HC, but he liklely has a higher ceiling than some retread HC. We'll see.

And if he bombs out, the bus fare back home to Toledo isn't all that expensive leaving out of Cleveland.

He's been around a lot of success, so he is no stranger to how it is done.....thought the Bengal's defensive coordinator would get a look by someone....he's excellent....

I was kind of hoping they'd choose him, given his background and head coaching experience.
