That gentlemen(and NMR) is your improved, younger O-line...albeit...not a good one, but "better" nevertheless.

Last year's line was not just BAD, but UNBELIEVABLY pathetic.... They added ONE new untried rookie entity.

They can shuffle them any way that they want ----- and put on gallons of lipstick ----- and, what will you still have???..... You got it!!

They'll STILL SUCK LARGE!!

It doesn't matter WHO STARTS WHERE !!

Please note my disclaimer towards the end "...not a good one...."
no miller or brown.

I kinda of see it like the RB situation....a replacement to Benson would have to be "epic bad" to do actually do worse. But, of course doing better then last years RB and O-line isn't exactly an achievement.

My post was more directed towards the elaborate discussion about Positions and Starters.

It won't matter !

Post # 24, Here is the exact quote:

"Eric you said that St. Clair would be starting at guard! All I said is that there was a rwason why he didn't start there last season."

I am not sure if you are schizophrenic or not? but you really need to cheer up, name calling, and belittling someone is really no way to prove your point.

<quoted text>You just contradicted yourself there...First there is a depth chart then theres not?
As usual you are using LAST SEASONS info...We're all moving on to '08 here.. I bet you Williams isn't even on that depth chart you have...BECAUSE ITS FROM LAST SEASON!!!!!!!!!!
I am beginning to think you just like to argue and stir things up on here, not really talk football. But I will answer you.

I replied to your point which was this:

I believe that Garza would have been the back-up center on game day in previous years. Then you had your Metcalfs and St. Clairs etc...as back-ups.

Here is why I put that:

You said in Previous years........The Key WORD PREVIOUS.....so PREVIOUS AND MOST RECENT WOULD BE LAST YEAR.....ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME?

SO Then I said this:

Actually the most updated depth chart (WHICH WOULD BE LAST YEARS BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ONE MADE YET FOR THIS YEAR) you can find had Kreutz's back-up as Anthony Oakley who was also listed as the back-up Left Guard Last year.

Now the Depth chart won't be shown until training camp......

Any questions?

Or can you find a recent depth chart with Garza as the back-up center? He was at one time but that was not last year, at least at the end of the season....

Here is my thinking on this Bill, although it remains to be seen if I am right:

Tait on the right side rather than Fred "The Matador" Miller, will make Garza Better, because that Side of the line will be more solid. So that will help the right side. I have been watching some replay games, and actually Garza is a really nice run Blocker....If that side really shore's up I think we will be better on that side....I think even St. Clair as a left tackle would be better than last years Lin-up with Tait on left Side and Miller on the right. But if Chris Williams is as good as we all think he is with an improved Left guard....Who I believe will be St. Clair.....but could be Metcalf.....overall it will be a step in the right direction. Hope fully I am not just as my friend would say "Shining up a turd".

Eric,----- You're "Shining up a turd" !

OTHER people don't make players "better".... PLAYERS make THEMSELVES better.

They've all had their chance to "prove" themselves.----- Did they "prove" themselves last year,... compared to other NFL teams??

To place a rookie LT in the position of "making or breaking" a team by his first year performance is moronic,... and, absurd,... AND totally UNFAIR !!

It is not without Precedent, Look at the impact of Joe Thomas on the Cleveland Browns last year. Who arguably were one of the most improved offensive lines and offenses, and they did exactly what the Bears are planning to do, put a rookie in left tackle and move the current Left Tackle to Right. They did pick up a proven guard in the off season as well.

From: Peter King @ SI.com , 21July, 2008

" I am very bullish on this Jason Taylor trade, Miami dealing the unhappy defensive end to Washington for a 2009 second-round pick and a 2010 sixth. It's a better trade for Washington than Miami, but a good recovery-deal for Bill Parcells and the Dolphins.

The amazing thing is, while you were having Sunday brunch, the two sides hadn't even started discussing it yet.

This trade happened, from idea-germination to finish, in five hours and 45 minutes. From Redskins executive vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato's first phone call to Parcells to getting the deal done took three hours and 10 minutes. That's how long it took for the 2006 Defensive Player of the Year and a guy we'll debate for the Hall of Fame someday to go from miserable on a bad team to hopeful on a playoff team.

Only in Washington. Only with Dan Snyder."
.

This is what I've been harping about all off-season ----- The Bears' management DOESN'T HAVE THE BRAINS to pull off something like this!!

They should have done light-years better in the Draft!!

And, you're arguing about WHAT piece of crap should play WHERE??

Aha ..... TWO VERY LARGE POINTS !!

Joe Thomas came through for the Browns,----- AND,... "They did pick up a proven guard in the off season as well."

Did the Bears give Williams any help??

Will Williams "come through for the Bears" ??

Can the Coaches "coach" ??

You won't get an argument from me we could of done better in draft and in the off season, I agree,

But it is what it is, might as well deal with tangibles.

I am only saying there is a possibility for improvement, never said the Bears Management were geniuses. Only there is room for some optimism.

And that a Rookie Left Tackle laying well and improving an O-line is not without precedent even as recent as last year.

All those will not be answered until regular season. Good questions and I hope some of them are answered In the affirmative.

I know that I've been "unduly" negative about the Bears' chances this year,..... And, I hate to rain upon anyone's parade,..... But, I just can't seem to get over the Bears Management's INEPTITUDE !!

Way to take things out of context Eric.

Let me dumb it down for you..Start ahead of Brown..Better?

I guess I gave you a little too much credit for being able to figure that one out!

The Bears Management style could best be described as Mikey Mouse, only that would be an insult to Mickey Mouse.

OK Eric I've officially lost any respect for you!

1.) To the best of my knowledge Oakley NEVER even suited up for one game last season!!! Garza was the back-up!!!

2.) None of your depth charts even match up.

3.) According to your little depth chart Bradley is the #1 receiver with Mike Hass as a back-up. Cant you let ANYTHING go ..

Let me correct myself here...Oakley suited up for 3 games last season...Kinda hard to be the back-up the other 13 games when your not dressed to play...Garza was the back-up center on game day. OK ..Anymore questions?
