Lifeless Mets shut out by Arroyo

Full story: Newsday

On a night when general manager Omar Minaya made a trade in an attempt to shake things up, the Mets continued to look like the same old team, limping and sputtering toward the All-Star break.

Amazing, simply amazing, how this sorry team makes third rate pitchers look like Hall-of-Famers.

As a diehard Met's fan, I find this to be strange midway through the season.

Met's starting line-up

Pagan - 0
Cora - 0
Murphy - 5
Wright - 5
Reed - 0
Tatis - 3
Schneider - 2
Reyes - 0
15 Home Runs

Cincinnati's Second Baseman
Brandon Philips - 14 Home Runs

What's your with these stats?

Today's starting lineup is just pathetic. I think the Ducks can field a more threatening lineup.

There's more action at the junkyards across the street than at Citibank stadium. The Mets were better when they were sponsored by Manufacturers Hanover.

Can someone please explain to my WHY Howard Johnson is the hitting coach? What in the hell did he do 25 years ago that warrants this position? 30/30 season once? BFD. I also remember him batting 1-25 in the playoffs in 88. OMG this is just awful to bear witness to on a nightly basis.

There was talk about replacing him earlier this season before the injuries started...

If Hojo is fired, it will be Omar's second hitting instructor in 3 years, we'll need a third hitting instructor since Omar took over.

No mas los mets.
Omar must go.

VERY GOOD point. He was a streaky power hitter who had two good years -- and was as inconsistent at the plate (and lousy in big hit situations) as David Wright has shown.

No team can win with the lineups the Mets have to put out their right now !
IF AND WHEN they get Delgado , Reyes , and Beltran back , this isn't a major league team !
And the trade was made only to get rid of Church , who Manuel hated long b4 he missed 3rd base !!

Molly Putz (no relation to JJ) could beat the Mets. Another lousy, drab night at Shittyfield. Yes Arroyo pitched a gem going the distance, but let's face it with the team we have anyone could beat this team. Even after the Votto homer when it was 1-nil, you knew all along they weren't coming back. Nieve pitched okay, the so called "quality start" 6 innings 3 runs 8 hits, 2 walks & 8 K's but not enough. Francoeur for Church is not a bad trade, but you need a hell of a lot more the way this team is going. Tonight, Johan takes the hill 6 days after throwing a decent game where he gave up 2 solo homers but once again zero run support. can't win with no runs. watch he'll throw 8 innings strike out 10 give up 1 run & lose. Fire Omar & Jerry!!!

Liam it already is. Watch August & september when there are 10,000 fans with paper bags over their heads. It's 1979 all over again. Oh well there's the taqueria for tacos & the shake shack at shittyfield to whet your appetite.

Poor David Wright - he has to suffer through the Wilpons, Minaya, Manuel and Bernazard - keystone cops - ALL. Trading Church - another brilliant move. Is it me, or should the 3B coach have been SCREAMING to him to touch the bag? To show the 3B coach's brilliance, last night he catches a foul ball in play. Who are the idiots here? Not the players.

Minaya's brilliance -

1) Heath Bell for Ben Johnson and Jon Adkins -???

2) Brian Bannister for Ambrioux Burgos -???

As a Mets fan, wouldn't you like to have those back right now??? And, we won't even get into his disastrous Expos trades...

The Mets will turn around when the Wilpons sell, not before. Sad, sad, sad. I was hoping when their millions were "Madoff" with that they would be forced to sell - oh well.

Go LosMets...yeesh.
