Hard work didn't pay off for those El Camino students that knocked themselves out to get the team to the playoffs only to be replaced by better players who didn't even play a single high school game for El Camino. Recruiting players out of the academies should not be allowed. Those kids not playing feel bad and angry. NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT. Just ask them. The kids that were replaced last year and this year will always feel bad and will always have a sad feeling because of the coach.

Husseys goal is to win the championship every year? What a loser.
Every coach wants to win a championship but more important is how they
want to reach that championship.
Hussey lacks integrity and honour. Stomping on his own players for his glory.
So he didn't "break any official rules" by replaying players. The rules need to be changed.
El Camino should want to have better morals. Hussey being a VP should know better.
His fellow peers don't stoop to this level. If the CIF isn't going to step in, his school should
because it is crime to treat hard working players like trash. These are kids not pros.

Players should have to play a certain number of games in order to be eligible to participate in playoffs. Loyalty, integrity to a team and the students should be the goal in high school soccer.
Not winning at any cost. Hussey not only recruits out of the academies, he is the Vice Principle of El Caomino and one of his duties is that of recruitment to the school. HELLO out there,
is it a wonder that he keeps winning? Beating the system, showing a lack of integrity
that is not what coaching should be about. Lack of discipline is another concern or should be the concern of El Camino. What about the player who was arrested while at a soccer tournament in Hawaii, not to mention he was later found with drugs. His suspension from the team, one game? I think someone needs to take a hard look at what Hussey has been getting away with.

Am I really cheating? I think winning is more important to these kids than playing time. So what if the rest of the kids are the one's that got us into the playoffs. Our academy player(s) will win us a city championship and that looks good on my resume. Remember folks, it's all about me. I need to fill the void in my life.

And to Kodama - you should definitely try and get some academy players. It really makes a difference. Thanks for your kind words after the game...LOSER!

Interesting how the same issue with Orr Barouch came up last year. My son plays for Taft and was on the same club team with Orr a few years back. How convenient to receive a red card on the academy team so close to the HS playoffs. Also, if I remember correctly when you receive a red card in club, I believe you are out the next two games. Hmmm, timing is everything. Mr. Kodama said it all, it comes down to ethics. My son was given the chance to join an academy team as well, but declined due to his dedication to both his team and coach. I am so proud to be a part of the Taft soccer family. We have a lot of heart.
One last note, Orr is not the ECR team. ECR's defense is awesome, and Keon, you are amazing!!! I miss the days when you and my son :) were on the same team. You are the best and I look forward to the day when you play professional.

You are cheating the players and the families that you are throwing off the team. My neighbors son played for you last year, and he was heartbroken when he was no longer playing. You took away his spirit. He went to all the practices, was so proud to be a member of the team. His last year was supposed to be his best memory. We used to all go to the games. He tried to pretend he was OK with it but we all knew he wasn't. How do you think he felt? It was a difficult dark time in his life and it was all because of one person, you. Those other players on special teams, should stay on their special teams. They already have a team, all this kid had was his high school team that he worked hard to get on and because of your lack of ethics kicked off the kids that worked so hard. Shame on you. Shame on your school and shame on the principle to allow you to treat kids like dirt.

I hit the reply button to report an abuse. The abuse is this so called coach. Someone needs to handle this situation. I do not like the way he speaks. I sat on his side and overheard the referree tell him to sit down and shut up. Can't someone do something about this man who should be medicated. He is a mean evil man.

Hussey, first of all, why dont you get your facts straight. Kodama doesnt read or post any of these comments or waste his time talking to you. He said all he had to say in the paper and i know for a fact that this was not Kodama who posted this first comment. Get your facts straight before you start being immature. You should spend some time in his program to learn how to be a man. Kodama doesnt forge papers to get his players into CSUN or take his team to Hawaii to get drunk and smoke weed. He doesnt do or say anything that is unethical. Good luck on winning a tainted championship.

As a fan of Taft and not of El Camino, I say I truly doubt that Hussey made that comment. It is unbelievable. Therefore, someone with a lot of hatred towards him must have posted it as you can put any name you want and write under their comments. However, if it actually was him, then I am incredibly surprised.

A good coach does not recruit for playoffs. The job of a school is to protect players and the community from coaches like yours. At other schools, and especially at college levels, coaches are role models. I do not have any kids at El Camino or Taft however, I do know for a fact that both Birmingham and Taft had plenty of kids in their school that were elite club players. They could have brought those players into the playoff scene but elected not to. That is the right thing to do. When Canoga kept getting into the big games, they had the community behind them. WHY? Because the coach has some class. Birmingham, Taft, these coaches win and lose with class. When they go to sleep at night they know they played with dignity. Even on the College scenes coaches wouldn't pull this cramp. Yes they do recruit but NOT before playoffs.
Good luck to you. I am sure some of the kids on the team truly deserve to win, but the community is not behind a school where a Principle is allowing his Vice Principle to destroy the future of high school soccer.

this whole situation is a joke. the athletics office and the principal of ecr are to blame for this. how can they have allowed this to happen? everybody loves a winner, but not when you are doing it unethically. it doesnt sound like hussey broke any rules, but this should have been challenged by their own principal and certainly the athletics office. sadly, there are many that feel he did no wrong. those are the people that played for a coach like hussey and are now brainwashed. they will probably win the championship and everybody will congratulate hussey on a job well done. its so sad.

First off the US Developmental Academy system is an affiliate for the US national teams. So when a player represents the National Team he is allowed to come back and play for their respective high school. Just because its labelled academy doesnt make it any different.

Orr is and has been a student at ECR his entire high school career. He was not recruited into the school for playoffs.

Your beloved Birmingham coach was fired from his position as head coach at Mission College for using illegel players, sleep well.

Taft talk about ethics, your school is embroiled in a nasty hazing incident that got your Principal and administration fired for trying to cover it up, again sleep well.

What are you people complaining about? Just because a kid was brought in to play for playoffs you're upset? This is not a new development. Players become academically eligible for playoffs all the time.

You people are hiding behind the idea that players are being hurt. Soccer is a team sport and these players represent their school not themselves. Their is no I in team. Athletes dont like sitting on the bench period, but a team player understands whats best for the team.

obviously you are one of the coaches of the team. i agree players can become academically eligible for a portion of a season, but rarely is it just for the playoffs. usually players who become academically eligible will appear in some regular season games. also, your player received a red card for his club team. had he not received a red card would he have been allowed to participate for your team? my opinion is that he would have continued playing with his club team, but because he was faced with a suspension he chose to leave the club team and play for you. he will undoubtedly be back with his club team as soon as the season ends. no matter how you look at it there are questions that need to be looked at for the future. there will hopefully be a change in the rules that says players must appear in a certain amount of games to be allowed to play in the playoffs. your players probably have mixed feelings about this. im sure they tell you they are okay with it because what else are they going to say. they cant go against you, coach. maybe some of them are truly not bothered by this. i can careless. the bottom line is as a former coach and a current parent of one of the girls soccer players at ecr, there are things that need to be evaluated here. im sure you feel you are acting in what is best for the players, but unfortunately i think you put yourself first.

As a VP of a school Hussey has the power to recruit and get any student/soccer player into the school with no problem. He recently tried to get my son to switch schools to El Camino Real and guided him to say "I want to be at a better academic school."

Taft's hazing only involved about 4 students and 3 staff members due to failure of reporting the incident in a timely manner(they where not fired). What does this have anything to do with the soccer team.
academically ineligible

Los Angeles, CA

#17 Mar 4, 2009
as a former high school athlete, i believe academically ineligible players usually have to wait until the 2nd semester rolls around. so any player who is ineligible due to grades has to wait till after finals are graded from the first semester to play...considering they are able to bring their grades up. i think this year, looking at when the soccer playoffs started and when most schools' first semester ended, it would have been 1 game of regular season, if that, and depending on how fast grades are released.

So I guess kids who are ineligible at the beginning of the year shouldn't get a chance to play either. However, most schools do allow players who are academically ineligible and become eligible to play. I guess they are all wrong also. Just some food for thought...rules on this might have changed since my time.

First of all the team does not have a problem with Orr being back. We all laugh at the fact that you guys have nothng better to do then to HATE on us. It is funny how you guys have enough time on your hands to try and bring our coach down. If you really have a problem with Orr being back on the team then talk about and blame the players of the team not our coach.
