Oh for heaven's sakes! Let the kids play. This kind of stuff is so stupid & unnecessary. Let them play and figure out the paperwork later. Why do adults have to make the simplest of childhood activities so complicated?

So the clerk doesn't know how to use the computer....send her to class and let the kids play. The soccer league is getting too legalistic. Loosen up. It's a kids game!

This is so sad for the boys who have trained all season to be told they can't compete due to a clerical error. This error was done by a volunteer, and that volunteer tried to correct it immediately. The kids are the ones punished and it is just not fair!

It seems that games aren't games anymore. It's too bad the volanteer made a mistake but common sense should prevail. Let them play.

Have we gone a little too far with rules/regulations....these are 12 and 13 year old boys that are out of a soccer tournament because of a clerk!!

Let em play.....even the NFL, MBL make exceptions...who are we to not make exceptions for errors.....even prisoners get released on new evidence!

Another example of adults not doing what is best for the kids because of personal vendettas.

LET THEM PLAY!!!!!!!!!!

The FYSA rules, which some may deem silly, are very clear and easy to follow. Dozens of clubs are able to follow the rules. It's a shame for the boys, but you can't start making exceptions to the rules. The rules are in place to protect against poaching and to prevent teams from stacking their rosters right before State Cup. They should be disqualified, just like the other clubs that have been DQ'd for not following the rules.

FYSA has rules for State Cup that govern play so coaches don't try to build super teams right before the competition. This club charges $1000s of dollars to play in their elite program. Their highly-paid staff is well aware of the rules and they know better. They got caught and that's why they have gone to the media.

Unbelievable!!! These poor kids didn't do anything wrong. These kids trained all year for this opportunity and now it's here and they can't play. These kids worked to raise the money to get in this tournament and now they are told you can't play. This is a once in a life time chance to be able to play in a state tournament.

As a fellow soccer family; let these boys play. They've worked hard all season and deserve to go!

LET THE KIDS PLAY!!! Youth sports have gone too far with all of their rules and regulations. The volunteer parents spend an inordinate amount of time completing cumbersome amounts of paperwork in order to comply with the rules that are intended for those who try to cheat the system only to be punished when an honest mistake happens. In the end, the final decision should be in the best interests of the kids.

I agree that the rules is in place to prevent excessive roster; however, in this case, the clerk had difficulties with the website and she called FYSA right away to report the problem herself (she did not wait to get caught because it was NOT her intention to cheat to begin with). So, she tried to get FYSA to correct the website mistake that she couldn't correct herself. No game has been played yet. Are you saying that a typo should be penalized? Anyway, if there is a limit of 18 players, why FYSA website allows more than 18 players to be put in hte roster to begin with? Isn't it common sense to make the website NOT allow more than 18 to be entered? Again, I agree rules needs to be uphold, but whatever happens to COMMON SENSE???

Yes, they should be allowed to play. This is an organizational mismanagement issue not a player issue. It's youth soccer, not youth bookkeeping.

This type of high drama is precisely the reason why I never permitted my kids to participate in any sports activities sanctioned by youth leagues of any kind. This is unbelieveable, the person that made the mistake contacted the club office about it immediately, and they tell her, "too bad, the mistake has been made". Now the kids are getting punished over a mistake someone else made and tried to correct! Way to go FYSA make Florida proud.

It sounds like a coach problem. Why is the registar to transfer and move players around?

Not clerical error, it is a coach error!

FYSA should have their 501c(3) non-profit status overturned as this is clearly not in the spirit of the mission in which they are supposed to operate. Let 'em play, fix the website, and move on.

Youth sports should always be about kids having fun.Its clear that this team was not attempting to cheat but fell victim to a system and clerical error. Why did this system allow for this error to even take place. If the rule states your only allowed 18 then it shouldn't even accept the 19th name. Our technology is a little bit more advanced than this isn't it?Seems the FYSA is to blame for a bad system. In the words of the fans of the "bad news bears"..."LET THEM PLAY1,LET THEM PLAY1, LET THEM PLAY!
