Griffin deal offers blueprint for Branch deal

The Tennessee Titans have signed their safety Michael Griffin to a long term deal.

Too much is put on pro bowl status. Thats a popularity contest not a stat contest. He has been fantastic, pay the man! Few raiders of late, have been as productive as branch ay any position. I know McKenzie has to keep oayroll in check, but he has produced!

If the Pro Bowl was based more on productivity rather than popularity, then I'd agree with this article more.

Heck I'm surprised Peyton Manning didn't make the Pro Bowl even though he didn't even play last year

I remember one year Jose Canseco was elected to start in the MLB all star game even though he'd been on the DL all season and another year there was another player who was elected to start even though he retired at the end of the previous year.

Branch is probably our best player in the secondary. I say pay the man. Question is: can we afford it? It all depends on how the contract is structured, I guess. It's kinda up to Branch whether he wants to play in Oakland or not.
