A Case for a Later Round QB

A Case for a Later Round QB

There are 23 comments on the The Daily Norseman story from Apr 1, 2014, titled A Case for a Later Round QB. In it, The Daily Norseman reports that:

Doesn't the old adage about NFL QB's go "if you have a quarterback competition, you don't have a franchise quarterback"? Well, this year's QB class reminds me of exactly that.

If Bridgewater is available when we pick we have to take him,. No way will a new coach stays with a QB who has proved he can not stay healthy and is not accurate.

Again the Fake Vikings Fan attempts to mislead us into believing that we must take a QB. The article (that he obviously didn't read) said that there is no clear best QB in this draft. So why then does the Fake Vikings Fan want us to draft a questionable QB? Because he is a Packers fan.

As the article said, "there is always next year". We could build the defense with this years draft and then draft a QB in15. Which is what the article alluded to doing. But FVF didn't read the article. He just made the statement "draft Bridgewater".

Again FVF take an English composition class. You'll thank me for it later.

I think Bridgewater was most accurate of the top four QBs I talked to some that took him off their list because of his pro-day but I say look at what he did with Jon Gruden Bradgewater looked great him & the same can said about his college play. Myself I would take Bridgewater or Manziel I think When Zimmer was talking about Manziel & how he seen red flags I think Zimmer was saying the flags that come up are reasons for asking the questions Not that the answers Manziel gave caused flags to come up.

The Vikes have a QB problem because they have a GM problem.

Bortles is the only real option at QB and he isn't ready to start. He needs at least a year to learn the pro game but when ready he will be a quality starter for a long time.

Manziel could be a pro bowl QB his first year or he could throw 30 int's and get hurt before the mid way point of the season.

Bridgewater is overhyped . Small hands for a QB means lots of fumbles. A wierd, wristy throwing motion not unlike Vick. Not a great arm. He is mentioned as pro ready because he took snaps under center but if you watch his game film he stares down receivers and doesn't have great anticipation. A HUGE mistake to draft him in the first round.

Carr has a serious case of happy feet just like his brother. We don't need another Ponder with a better arm.

We are better off trading down, if possible and looking for a QB in the mid to later rounds. Someone like Murray in the fourth or Powers in the seventh would give us a capable back up for a few years. The best QB's are in next years draft so try and stockpile picks now if possible.

Funny how no one talks about Barr anymore and for a long time he was considered a top 5-6 pick. He's not linked to the Vikings in draft rumors which make me suspicious. Typical Spielman to not talk about a player and them snap him up when no one is looking.

Small hands for a QB means nothing hand strength is what matters. Small hands is something media made up to denigrate a QB they don't like. Old time Viking fan you should know that.

Small hands, small feet, small genitalia. If I find one I will snap him up when no one is looking.

Now I've heard it all. The Fake Vikings Fan says,

"Size does not matter". Bawhahahahahaha Let me guess a gal from the Mustang ranch told you that one? Bawhahahahaha.....

your ignorance goes further than your lack of knowledge of football or grammar. This is too funny!

Bridgewater is weak armed weak framed and weak minded. The Vikes play outside the next two years. Bridgewater does not make it to the viking shrine as a starter. Take two later guys. Murray and Gilbert are my choices.

Manziel's hand size 9 7/8-inch hands fumbled two times last season. Bridgewater's hand size 9 1/4 inch hands fumbled 3 times last season. Bortles hand size 9 3/8-inch hands fumbled 8 times last season. Carr's hand size 9 1/8 inch hands. If hand size is such a big deal that its the reason for not wanting Bridgewater How do you feel about Carr's hand size that is smaller then any of the QBs in this draft. Do you still want to draft him even if he falls into the second round?

My guy is getting ready for his proday. And he has to be brought 9 slow. As an option I am also open to trading for Mallett. Better arm talent than anyone in this draft

Murray has the arm talent for sure If he didnt hurt his ACL he would have been going in the first round. His down side is his size at 6 ft1 - 208 LBS His body frame is smaller then Bridgewater. People has said Bridgewater because of his body frame wouldn't hold up in the NFL. Also now because of the injury Murray is on that list of being a injury prone QB.

Mike Zimmer is defensively focused coach so they might take ILB C.J. Mosley with that first pick Now this sounds nuts but hear me out This draft is very deep so it might be worth trading next years first or maybe second round pick to get back into the first round & take one of the QBs Or they still could make that trade & take Evans or Watkins & hold off to the second round to take a QB. They could even make that trade just to get a few more picks for this draft being how deep this one is to next year. I like the thought of someone like Evans or Watkins playing with Patterson & Jennings. would be a wild offense to try & stop. Even Cassel would look good lol. The thing about the QBs in this draft is there is no big separation between them. I think there are eight good QBs in this draft that the Vikes can take. They could be the future QBs of the NFL all coming from this draft.

QB Murray Negatives

Very small by NFL starting quarterback standards. Barely over 6’0” and 200 pounds, lacking the baseline measurables coveted by scouts and decision-makers
Torn ACL in November cut his senior season short, long-term durability concerns loom as he works to recover before the draft
Has a tendency to throw into traffic, often does not appear to see defenders sitting on his receivers’ routes. Questionable decision-making
Arm strength hovers around adequate, showing average velocity to the intermediate and deep portions of the field. Passes outside the numbers occasionally take a while to reach their intended target
Not a natural improviser. Is a rhythm passer that struggles a bit when plays break down, looking frantic at times
Does not throw a tight spiral, the ball often wobbles out of his hand. May be a consequence of below-average hand size
Can be late to recognize interior pass rush
Lack of height is concerning for a pocket passer. Drew Brees more of the exception than the rule. Occasionally has passes swatted down at the line of scrimmage
Inconsistent deep ball, has a limited throwing range and often underthrows his intended target. Struggles with accuracy throwing further than 40 yards
Not an explosive or dynamic runner, moves around well but lacks the straight-line speed of the NFL’s scrambling quarterbacks. I think anyone liking Murray should also like Bridgewater Both QBs have the same inconsistency Both have a small body fame & both have small hands & both struggles throwing the deep ball with accuracy.
