Brandon LaFell could be Patriots new utility weapon
LaFell as 'Swiss Army Knife': If there's one thing the Patriots have excelled at during their decade-long run of success, it's been the ability to find previously unknown utility from less-than-star players.

Had the Pats drafted better they would be in a position for another SB victory as well as possibly having gotten several more SBs victories than they already have.
Consider the pick wasted on Ryan Mallet. A position player of need could at this time be a probowl candidate if Belichick had the foresight to not pick a bench warmer for the last four years. Now he has done it again but with a higher draft choice this year. And at a time when the Pats needed a TE and good ones were available. Another Belichick miscue.
Also consider spygate where he cost the Pats a second round pick and your imagination could run wild with yet another quality starter.
Now throw in the Tavon Wilson idiot pick, which wouldn't have been an inkling in even a bad coach's eye if he didn't waste the picks on Mallet and spy gate. See the gambler snowballing and throwing the future away yet?
Many other lost opportunities abound because Mr Bob Kraft abdicated his responsibility to a coach who would be king.
Belichick has skills not matches by any other coach in the NFL currently. His brilliance cannit be iverlooked, but his lack of skill in the personnel realm negates his other gifts. However his inability to draft and select players has taken what should have been certain SB opportunities, and instead forced Brady to pull proverbial rabbits out of old dingy hats provided by Belichick annually, instead of the dapper Top Hats Brady or any QB deserved.
Even if the Pats somehow pull off a SB victory, it will be inspite of, not because of Belichick's personnel moves.
Still looking for a legit WR with speed, hops and hands and a TE who can both block and catch. Twenty years in the league as a head coach and the basics still elude him, forcing Brady to carry the entire offensive load himself. And then Brady continues to drag his sorry ass through the post season, when with just a little better attention the Pats could have been the Celtics of the 60s.
The solution is simple. Let Belichick work his magic during the season, just don't let him near the draft room and personnel dept.
P.S. Flowers would be a nice touch, but a TE is a necessity.
