Let me get this straight- Taylor is 33, looks like he has lost a step, and the Fins believe that they can get a 1st Round Pick. Come on, the best the Dolphins can get for JT is a mid 3rd pick. No team is going to give a 1st round pick for an aging vet on the backside of his career.

If that is the case, what delusional sickness are you suffering from Rog?

My hope was that Spielman would give us their 1st and the two 3rd rounders for JT and pay back some debts, but he finally made the Vikings a bad team too by giving up 3 draft picks for a former 4th rounder - Welcome to the loosers lounge Vikes!!!

<quoted text> Good point - the same people who thought the last coach was crazy were the same people that booed last year's draft. So Parcells is 'doing the same thing' as you claim, and these idiots are being just as moronic.
But by all means, lets fire Parcells and hire you as the GM since you obviously have a much better handle on things than a professional who has a couple of Super Bowl titles.(sarcasm to full)
I'm sorry, but just because it's bill Parcells...he does not get a free pass, niether do his "puppetts".

The last coach/GM was crazy because he thought an injured, undersized, KR/PR was worth a top ten pick just because he liked his father; not because he wanted to stockpile draft picks.
It was wise to trade Chambers for a pick, and it was wise to get picks for Welker considering how bad we were WITH those guys. Problem was he only got two second round picks for those guys. But the idea of stockpiling was well received by any reasonable Dolphins fan.
Trading JT for a 1st doesn't make us better right now, but it is a no-brainer if we're interested in long term success. I'd even do it for a 2nd and 3rd. I wouldn't do it for less than that though.
And anybody who would spout off about firing anyone in this regime is a total fool. Maybe you were just trying to get someone to bite. If so, congrats, you got me.
What is exactly wrong with Ted Ginn may I ask? If you people actually follow real football...College Football, you would have seen that Ginn is a unique football player you don't pass on. That Guy should have had three run-backs for TD's His speed is world Class.
Last I checked...Ginn scored TD's last year while Quinn rode the bench.

<quoted text>You need to look at the big picture. We all hate to see JT go but it is in the best interest of this teams future. JT wants to leave. His heart is not into going through the rebuilding process. Trade him to a contender (except the Pats)so he has a shot at a ring, and we benefit in the future.
No...Taylor can still contribute to this team for a few more years, not only on the field, but as a player/coach as well.
Parcells first says he's not going to trade JT, now he's trading him and the Fans are OK with that because it's Parcells
Why does this town love bill parcells....remember the last popular coach to come from Dallas?

Managing a sports team isn't about putting the absolute best possible team on the field each and every year. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to rebuild for the future. Would you rather have a bunch of subpar seasons or a few slow ones and then a great one?
Is'nt that what the team did last year so they could get a guy like Long? Then the fans run the coach out of town and bring in Parcells.

I hate to use NE as an example but how many high priced free agents do they resign?
They allways seem to get the maximum value for a player when the timing is right.
Yes all of there fans feal bad until they are in the playoffs AGAIN!!!! then it's ok

'A free pass'??? They've been on the job for all of 4 months now - you need to relax a bit and give this guy some time to actually DO something.

The fans didn't run ANYONE out of town. 1-15 ran the coach out of town. Don't think for one second that somehow a bunch of drunk morons booing at a draft somehow had an effect on Cameron's job security.

One question for you: who said Parcells was trading Taylor? This newspaper. Do you know if JT has talked at all with Parcells? Do you know if anything else has been said between the two parties to know if a trade was even requested? If you don't know the whole story, how can you point fingers?

Exactly!! These crybaby fans need to stop responding emotionally to the possiblity of losing Taylor...I love the guy to death but is he really going to be part of the future? Give him a chance to win now while Miami is rebuilt....I have no problem with that as long as its not a team we play this year.

Cameron was in over his head as a head coach from the get go...even I did not want to admit it while he was here but that sadly was the case. Seems like a great offensive mind and a good enough person, but not everyone is NFL coach material. He lost the respect of the locker room...that was probably the biggest reason he was shown the door.

I dont always agree with your opinions but I am with you on Ted Ginn. I fully expect him to have a great season not only as a returner but also make great strides as a WR. C-ya.

<quoted text> Sorry, but Matt's right. Jake Long is currently under contract to Miami. If we trade him, we take a cap hit for the guaranteed money just like trading anyone else. So I'm fairly confident that Miami would not shoot themselves in the foot with the cap like that.
thanks guys...

I didn't know the rules of the cap, and thought that if, before a player hits the field, you could transfer his contract without penalty.

whoops.....

The more tape I see of Jake, the more I LOVE this pick though!!

He moves down the field like Joe Thomas, last year's #2 and a Pro Bowler already.....he just crushes players to the ground, and pushes them down to demoralize them for the remainder of the game!!!! A butkus type throwback....so TUNA!!

Only thing is....most "experts" say he is a Pro Bowler at RIGHT tackle, where, I believe Vernon Carey performs at his best.

I guess Sparano's expertise sees something that others don't, i.e., who will be where in September 2008.

All hail the trinity (small t of course)

Woodstrock....it's ALL OVER the NFL network....several teams have said Miami is shopping Jason....so far for only a #1.

Most experts say he will never merit a #1, but Philly or another team I can't remember may give us a #2.

34 years old, but averaging 12+ sacks over last 3 years, AND, only Strahan has more in last 10 years.

CERETAINLY worth Philly #2, and with Tuna's propensity for finding Pro Bowl talent with first 55-60 picks....a SOLID move by the PHINS!!!!

Cut loose this man who gave a great 11 years, but has now set himself up as the uppity vet(color him white, black, brown, yellow, red....uppity is uppity, regardless), who would rather announce his retirement plans and go dancing than work out with all of the teams' new faces!!!!!

Who exactly is paying him 8 MILLION FREAKING DOLLARS RIGHT NOW....TODAY!!!!??????

Wayne

Wayne is NOT HAPPY with Jason.......trust REALITY on this one!!! Neither is the Tuna.

Another FYI - Todd McShay on ESPN.com has his complete mock draft through Round 7 posted. For Miami, he says:
1. Jake Long, LT, Michigan
2a. Chad Henne, QB, Michigan
2b. Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
3. Eddie Royal, WR, Virginia Tech
4. Mike McGlynn, G, Pittsburgh
6a. J Leman, ILB, Illinois
6b. Joe Jon Finley, TE, Oklahoma
7a. DJ Hall, WR, Alabama
7b. Darnell Terrell, CB, Missouri
I don't know about everyone else, but anything like that, and I'm dancing in the streets.
godfrey is a bit of a reach, and I don't think Royal and McGlynn will be there when we pick....I can see McGlynn going in Royal's spot, and Tuna taking a WR where McShay has Godfrey slated to go. I LOVE joe Jon selection....still have to research DJ Hall and Darnell Terrell.......
