Plus we can draw in people from Washington DC and NY to come here too. Let's legalize rape and murder and tax it, because people have been doing it in this state for hundreds of years.

Its about time ohio is joining the the real world and not giving away their money to support other states when ohio is in such a fix. I looked around the parking lots in wheeling WV and Indiana's riverboats and noticed how many ohio licence plates I saw on the cars at those casinos.I know the other gambing states fought hard to stop ohio in the last two elections from gambling and losing all that money rolling in from ohio gamblers by funding the opposition to ohio having it's own gambling.Way to go Ohio! 777 bar bar bar JACK POT

Allowing slots in ONLY racetracks is not joining the real world. It's a blatant end run around the voters and a move the will guarantee big dollars in political contributions from the lucky recipients.

As predicted, Teddy used his excutive power to put the slots for the one bidding contractor. Ted eats this one with the house when it fails and millions of Ohio taxpayer money is lost.

I voted against gambling every time it came on the ballot. Am I mad at Strickland for this latest move?
No. I would rather have video slots than further cuts to needed services here in Ohio. And I really like my local library and I value what they provide for my community! I want them to stay around for a long time!
Also, for once this plan came from the state government and not some sleazy out of state entity who advertise misleading commercials and think they can fool Ohio Voters! Ohioans get a lot more from this plan!

You people that are against gambling. SHOULD HAVE YOUR taxes increased. Evidently you have a lot money to spare. The descion to gamble is up to the individual. Nobody is forcing you to gamble. These other states around us doesn't seem to be hurting. Infact look at this subject in all the other states too.

Personally, this gambling issue should have never been an issue. Casinos do not produce minimum wage jobs, they actually allow people to have nice incomes. The white elephant in Columbus known as City Center would made a perfect Casino. There are already areas for shops and restaurants and would definitely put Columbus on the map and generate serious income for the City, County, State and all of the residence. Putting slot machines at race tracks was probably always out there-just waiting for people to really start panicing about the budget, etc. I'm sure once these machine start generating money, the State and all local governments will go back to their old spending habits.

The benefits and pensions that the state workers recieve should be to the average of the rest of us Ohioans. I'm tierd of paying for these benies when the money needs to go to other needed funds. Lets make it realistic.

Why do we even have state ballot issues? The Ohio voters have voted down gambling in Ohio 4 times. We don't want it. It will result in more costs in the long run. Gov Strickland is overstepping his power with this executive order.
What can we Ohioans do now to have our votes on issues stand?

The libraries should all stay open, If the library near me closed, I would have to drive an extra 40 minutes to get to another. It would just be annoying. Then if they closed that one, then It would take me at least 1 hour and 20 minutes.

We need more people to care about the advantage of having libraries around it's more than just a place to hangout, it is a place where you can have wonderful opportunities.

You voted against having a gambling casino built on a specific piece of land. You did not vote against allowing gambling in Ohio.

The votes... at least the last two were voted down in a large part due to the financial backing of the states that have gambling next to ohio that get a lot of their revenues from ohio gamblers that visit their casinos. They don't want to lose ohio gamblers. Why should they? Their libaries are still open and their schools still support extra sports activities Thanks a lot in part to ohio money spent in their casinos. It's time the state started supporting ohio's own schools and libaries from the gambling revenue they been giving to their neighbors.
