In the wake of revelations this week by former Nationwide and Craftsman Truck Series driver Aaron Fike that he was addicted to painkillers and sometimes used heroin at the track on the same day he raced, the ...

Kevin Harvick is riled up about this. He wants to have them do something BEFORE there is a problem and I totally admire that.. YEAH KEVIN!! YOU ROCK!!

I completly agree with Kevin and Kasey i think its retarted that they do not do a drug test....they do it in every other sport! These men put there lives on the line every single week and the last they would want is for some idiot out there racing with them on freakin drugs! Nascar needs to learn to get ahead of things....like Mark Martin said as soon as Dale E. died they dramaticly changed the car! Why do they have to wait until something happens to deal with it. It should be a standard thing every week that they do!

I think it was Jr who said that they would all line up this weekend and offer samples.. these guys do not want to be endangered and I respect that.. it is bizarre that the NASCAR higher ups do not think this is necessary...

I think Jon Wood has done a few... He can blame it on his ADD and his meds, or whatever, but I just don't believe him.

This admission is an even greater reason to ban him for life! At any race he could have killed someone. This guy is a druggie loser and should never be allowed to race again. I don't even think he should be permitted to race at a dirt track.

No, that was Biffle. The woman on Nascar Now said Jr was the only one who had any sympathy for Fike.

the saddest thing is when athletes feel that they need to enhance their skills,, ,when to be raw, to be real is all that it takes to do your best.

Im all for telling the truth...but him saying openly that he used drugs on Raceday...just really ticks me off!! He put everyone else at danger because he is such of an idiot....I dont know why Jr. is giving him props for coming out and saying that....and has sympathy for him!! WHY would you???!!! Yes, he made a mistake.....but the mistake was something that he could of controled and decided NOT to. He KNEW he was putting other people at risk! He should NEVER be let back on ANY type of race track. Like Kasey Kahne said, "As far as I'm concerned, where we are at in NASCAR - in racing - whenever you get the opportunities you get, there should be no question that you're clean or doing drugs. I think there should be no question at all."
I could not agree more. He got an AMAZING opportunitiy and BLEW IT! He should NOT be let back on the track, period.

These guys know that Fike has given them and the sport a black eye. It's the guys like France, Helton and all who have their heads up their own asses and refuse to believe there's a problem. Yeah, like they've said, "we have a handle on it and will check if there's reasonable suspicion". Well guess what Nascar biggies, you blew it !!!! You had a guy high on smack, driving a race truck, and YOU DIDN'T SEE IT. They sure are concerned with pre and post race inspections of the race cars but they should now be concerned with pre-race inspections of driver's urine. They spend money on all sorts of things to keep drivers safe but they don't want to spend the bucks to keep everyone safe from a driver who's high. Stupid !!!

How can you be stupid enough to use drugs on a race day? And more importantly, how did NO ONE know about it? Jeeze. It's just amazing how he got away with that for as long as he did. He's gotta be suspended for life. Shane Hmiel was, and so should Fike. He blew his chances at NASCAR by shooting up.

Don't the race doctors get all uppity when drivers are racing on pain killers? I don't remember well, but I seem to recall that being an issue in the past.

If not, think about it. We're not only concerned about illegal drugs, but what about legal drugs that have adverse affects. This is risky business and people's lives are on the line. You would have thought NASCAR would have already been doing this. Its apparent they thought they were exempt from this type of behavior.

I remember something about the pain killers too. But I believe Elliott was on them for his back and he raced 500 miles at Martinsville. Now, I don't know if he took them before the race or not, but he was taking them that weekend for his back.

Perhaps they turn a blind eye because these so-called performance enhancing drugs aren't used in Nascar. I don't see how HGH or testerone would help a race car driver. So, in that light, they need to check for illicit drugs like crack, amphetamines, heroin and marijuana.

As for the pain killers, that makes me wonder also. I know that after I had major surgery, they gave me painkillers that put me right out of it. There's no way I could take a painkiller and drive anything, not even a lawnmower.

GOOD FOR KEVIN! Here's the truth about drug testing. Nascar - you are wrong in trying to sell me that farm that it would cost alot of money.

42 drivers, results in hour for each (presumptive) and not invasive or medical physican needed to do the test. Total Cost $600.00

Think Nascar can afford this? I think they think we all must be simple. And what part of driving under the influence is illegal don't they all not understand?

NO ON DRUGS IN SPORTS - CHILDREN ARE WATCHING, LISTENING, LEARNING. Nascar has the bucks, shipped them off to rehabilitation for 30 days stay, and long term plan. Born with it, not anyone's fault. Don't be hating the user, but hating drug pushers who profit off death. And reality check - sure has been the downfall of this society. Lots of death, destruction, and families ruined because of it.

DRUG TEST - ALL FOR IT - BECAUSE I BELIEVE YOUR WORTH IT. WORTH SAVING IF YOU "DO" IT.
