11? 1974, 1978 and 2003 it was split, so there was no "real" National Champion those years.

Well my source (take it with a grain of salt...or not) was Wiki. And schools will gladly put a 1 next to national championships won whether or not they it outright or not (name one school who has a 1/2 next to the number of championships they've won)

'74 and '78 are jokes.......In '03, the split you're referring to was not even a split.....unless, only if you call 2/3 for LSU and 1/3 for USC. The AP felt sorry for y'all, that's all. There is really a difference. There is no Home to any school like Tiger Stadium is to LSU (Esepcially at night!), even if New Orleans is 90 miles from Baton Rouge. It still isn't any Tiger Stadium, that's for damn sure!!!!!!!:\

Think the score was 28-14, I know USC beat Michigan by 14.
The coaches poll and the BCS are basically the same thing as I've already stated before. The BCS poll determines who plays in the BCS title game, it has no final poll after the games are played (the coaches's poll does that for them). There are only 2 polls (AP and Coach's poll) that have a final poll and that's where the split championship comes into play. There is no 3rd poll.
