Good article Mr. Willett. It almost compensates for that stupid fluff piece you wrote on mayor Herron.

Great story and photo. I never realized Mayor Aikens was so talented... and so handsome! I'm proud to have voted for him at least three times during the last election.
Every time i vote for him I get a punch hole in my election card. After i get 10 friends to each get 10 punch holes in their card, my son gets a job at LCUB!
It's just like saving Green Stamps!

It appears that the article has a typo on the Mayor salary:

"In addition to his duties as mayor of the county's largest city at a salary of $5,400 per year, Aikens serves as chairman of the Lenoir City Utilities Board, a post that pays $5,400 per year plus benefits."

Surely he makes more than $5,400 for this high office. The Link goes to the budget:

When was the last time someone had to pass a test or evaluation process to be hired by LCUB? How many times has he been indicted? Anybody who lives in LC deserves this turd!

$5,400 paid from city funds plus $5,400 paid from the utility funds. You people must enjoy getting screwed. Or are you just clueless?

There was a time years ago. The manager tried to make those kinds of changes but I guess he wasn't welcome in Lenoir very long. You ain't willing to play the good old boys games and keep yo mouth shut you won't last there. I hear they are grooming a new city administrator. Has he been hired yet?

We're clueless.
Tony cannot possibly be a crook. The reason is because I've known him all my life.

As far as I know Shannon is still at LCUB.

It was just a fluff piece on Aikens. Estelle is the great communicator and Tony is the great multi-tasker. Loudon county has been blessed with great leaders.

According to the mayor he was just wanting to get some "new blood" on the LCHA Board. I found that comment interesting in light of all the statements he and the council have made recently trying to keep the same blood in city government. Funny!

Heaven is justified in his confusion. Mr Littleton is not the city Administrator nor is he the City Attorney any longer. He is the LCUB General Manager. It is easy to get confused in LC.

Shannon Littleton is the general manager of LCUB in name only. He also sits in as attorney, which is a huge conflict of interest so what else is new, right?

Try to keep up. I stated he was still LCUB and note he is the GM. Nothing would preclude him becoming the City Administrator.:)

It's ok - we are patient.

Unless you are suggesting they might hire him to do both, I doubt he would want to take the cut in pay and benefits. Even though the City Admin. is now making around $90K in salary alone. That's probably less than half of LCUB GM position salary.
(I guess the $20K raise for the City Admin. in the last budget was what they call a retirement spike.) lol

They did that to get the salary raised up there where their new yes man can come on board as the city administrator. He will not have to have a college degree or any experience. His only requirement will be to have huge lips for the butt kissing and be one of their realatives or friends.

LOL! Only on Lenoir City can you have a city administrator with no formal education!!! Hahaha! But then again, I've never heard of a reputable university giving someone a degree in stealing, extorting, or nepotism!

Why is this a shock to anybody? Can anybody honestly say they think his consolidation of power is a good thing? Or that his motives aren't self serving?

Maybe a degree in agriculture. That should get the job done.
