Bigby makes strong impression at safety

“I never look at a guy and say, 'I can do a better job than him.' I never look at it like that”

Atari Bigby has forced two fumbles and intercepted a pass in his first six games as the starting strong safety. via Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

I like Bigby. He is always around the ball, hits like a Mack truck. He is definitely a player. Best we have had at that position in some time.

Collins has become a concern of mine, and I think he will be fighting for his starting job next off season. He just has not lived up to expectations.

Agreed. Collins showed some spark half way into his rookie season but has fallin off. He can't catch worth a damn either. Also agreeing with Bigby hitting hard. It's great to watch him put his bodies force into a reciever or back.

collins will have competion next year when the safety from VT Rouse competes for a spot next year. HEs big, strong and speed which is dangerous combo, and he needs a year under his belt.

Atari is much better than Manuel was and with hime and Collins, GB has solid, young safties who will be even better next year. The key to this team's success in my opinion has been the corners with Harris and Woodson. Those two guys setup everything for a strong overall defense. Thompson was smart and showed good insight to bring in Woodson and pay Harris his value. Many folks doubted TT and still do, but the guy has made many "right" moves for this team (signing Barnett long-term was another wise move). We should be thankful we've got someone that handles money well and pays the right guys (ex. Kapman).

We need to find a good pair of backup corners.Harris and Woodson are both in their 30's and will start losing a step in a few years ro more importantly when or if injuries creep up, we are extreamly vulnerable at the corner position, and thus far Bush isnt cutting it.

That is a concern also that will probably be fixed this off season either thru additional experience of our young guys and/or the bringing on of new talent. The problem is that young CBs need game experience, and the opposing QB takes advantage of them, so a year from now Bush may not look as bad as he has sometimes.

how do you guys feel about him now?? I am not trying to annoy or piss off anyone. I was with the most of you in thinking he might be a pretty good player. His three or four penalties tonight were too much. That delay of game when he kicked the ball was horrible.

The offense def. won the game for us for change after all the times the defense helped us out.

I believe him and harris had a poor game tonight. Everyone is allowed a poor game from time to time, and I am just pointing it out right now. I hope to god and believe they will pull through.

Denver scared the crap out of me, and I hope we can continue to improve because there are lots of room.

The difference between Indy and the pats compared to the rest of the nfl including us is all these mistakes that we make during the game.....

however, on a lighter note, we are 6-1 and that's plenty to ride home about!!!!

GO PACK...GO!

Being a Lions fan, the good thing is knowing that if these two teams play like they did tonight against the Lions, that will be three more victories closer to Kitna's prediction.

Being a lions fan u should realize u shouldnt be making predictions against a team that is currently better then u in your division. Being a lions fan u should know that this wont last and you are in for a big fall. You guys beat the bears twice and the raiders and the injured tampa bay bucks and the vikings so who have u guys really played? The only teams you played that seemed any good completely crushed yas. You guys scored 16 points against a bears team that turned the ball over more then 5 times. You guys are 5-2 and have the worse pf and pa differential in the league among teams with a winning record. If you guys continue to play the way u guys are playing the packers will be 2 wins closer to the nfc best record.

That's why they play the game my friend, and that's why I love the NFL. We can make all the predictions we want, but it really doesn't amount to a hill of beans. It will be decided on the field.

Understood, but why make such predictions.... The lions tougher games will be against Green Bay and Denver...I'm not sure how logical your predictions are bud.

I think Bigby had a tough night. He didn't really dive at Stokley when he hit him out of bounds and got the late hit. And the pass interference called, which Jaworski agreed with, seemed like it could have been a non call. I rewound it several times and Bigby really didn't touch Graham with his right hand and was going for the ball with his left. Didn't matter, a few plays later and the back judge was out of the game. Guess he wasn't seeing very well last night.
Bigby ability to shake off those calls and continue to play shows alot of professionalism. He will only get better.

I agree that he will get better. With a young team mistakes are going to happen. Indianapolis is the second youngest team, but it seems they have like an 8th of the penalties we do. I am so happy to be at 6-1, and I hope to god we just keep learning from our mistakes!!!

What a thrill last night's game was.....

He has to play smart and whatever needs to be done to make sure he is constantly making the right decisions.

Kicking the ball was about as dumb as it gets. I thought Stokely flopped, but I think Atari could have avoided the hit. Those are what MM calls non-competitve penalties and there aren't any excuses for them..

You think their tougher games are against Green Bay and Denver? Do you know anything about Football? I would say the tougher games are the Cowboys, Giants and Chargers, Green Bay is good but I'll repeat myself, if they play like they did on Monday the Lions should beat them. Denver is a bad team and if Detroit loses to them they should be embarrassed (with Detroit that is a possibility). My predictions make much more sense than the crap you're throwing against the wall.
