We still have PLENTY of tradition. I think it's a nice uniform and it's not like the university won't make any money off this. It's not a throwback, that is for sure, it is still a tribute to that '54 team though. Similar color concept and the helmet, etc. Anyway, throwback or not...we have plenty of tradition, Nike makes some green, OSU makes some green, the kids get to don some nice new gear, recruits like that sort of thing and at the end of the day...when we beat Michigan, does it really matter what we are wearing?

Again.... These uniforms are an embarassment!! All Nike is trying to do is make money. They do not care about Ohio State or Buckeye tradition. I can't believe Ohio State would approve of this!!! Would Penn State or Michigan do this?? NO! We will be come another program and not one of the traditional ones. Say goodbye to silver helmets with Buckeye leaves and cool scarlet uniforms. It would not suprise me if they went with all black uniforms next season. Any thing to sell or make a buck. Way to ruin tradition! It was just a matter of time for Ohio State to cave-in to Nike!! Oh well... Beat Michigan!
This is what happens when you hire an Athletic Director with NO Buckeye "background or culture." I wonder what kind of "perks" Gene Smith got for agreeing to the change in uniforms. Gene (Nike) Smith, may say it is only for "one game" but I'll bet it is just a feeler to see what they can get away with in the future.

For the record, since someone asked, Ohio State went to silver helmets and awarded Buckeye leaves beginning in 1968. It was Woody Hayes' idea, along with equipment manager Ernie Biggs. This will be the first OSU-Michigan game since then in which the Buckeyes will not wear those famous helmets and that is a real shame. These throwbacks needed to be worn in any other game but THE GAME!

Wow. Some of our fans are unbelievable! Especially the fans that still live in Ohio.

Whine and moan over a uniform, which will only be worn for one game (and look pretty cool IMO), but blindly kiss up to Tressel and his gutless coaching minions, who have cheated our players out of the opportunity of playing for a national title with their conservative pee-wee offensive gameplans.

God, I don't know how I spent 30+ years in Columbus!

Get your priorities straight folks!

They are the new Nike Pro Combat Uni's. they are lighter and are more flexible so to speak. They are doing this for Va Tech, TCU, Texas, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, and a few other schools. They wont go crazy and pull an oregon for all these schools, they are just trying new stuff. i think all these schools needed updated uniforms. OSU's current ones are great but i think its good to spice it up a little.
Here is a link for a look at some of the other uni's

I'm also a true believer in the theory for athletes.
"ya look good, ya play good. "

and to nike this isnt about money, they make so much money already.

also in the end it doesn't if you have the sickest uni's or the ugliest, its about how you play the game and that you give it your all on the field, thats where the Buckeye Tradition is coming from that Nike is talking about. The Tradition of playin hardnosed football and leaving it on the field.

Look out for the black helicopters.

The new uni looks nice to me, even the helmet. The uniform has undergone several changes over the years, funny how this is getting so much attention. Were people upset with the throwbacks we wore at home in 93? the helmet color change in Tressel's first year? The various changes to the pants colors and stripes over the last 20 years? the jersey change a couple years ago?

I wonder if the people that are clamoring for the scarlet realize this is just the away uni? I kind of doubt it.

Lighten up. It's one game with the throwback. The unis look nice. Something different to look at. I'm sure they aren't going to mess with our current uni.
We'll kill Michigan so no worries there. Except for Pryor. Kid is a great athlete. He needs to make quicker reads. He has receivers open coming off the line but he dances around confident he can run out of anything. He's looking for the perfect target but he's not hitting anyone coming out of their break. He's only a sophmore so I'm sure that will come in time as the coaches work with him.
Don't forget this team is so young it's unbelievable. Check the roster most are freshmen and sophmores. This group should get back the the National Championship in the next two years.

Go Bucks!! Beat Wolverines!! Then go take the Rose Bowl!!!

Like the shirt and pants but think the uniform would look really nice with the "silver bullet" helmet. Solid white helemt does not cut it.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Capricorn

Mercury retrograde in your sign will cause some friction between you and other people during coming weeks. Matters that have been bubbling away in the background will come to the boil, forcing you to do something about them. Try not to overreact, nor to create a crisis out of something that's really very minor. You should also keep a strong sense of fair play and pay attention to every little detail.
