Strickland claims the slots will raise $933 million. That means Ohioans playing the slots will loose $1.866 BILLION dollars out of pocket. What is Ted's plan for all these people that loose their cars, homes and marriages when family incomes are spent on slots. Yes, Ted the preacher man doesn't practice what he preaches, or rather he never had a message or plan in the first place.

Governor Strickland's up bringing as a child and young man into a adult, has now become a "Hypocrite". With his Education and background, he now has gone the other way! Gov. Strickland knows that "Gambling" is a deterrent to"Economic Growth" (Only to the Horse Track Owners) His College Degrees prove that to him. When a Elected Official Blatantly IGNORES the "Will Of The People", and does the opposite! The Official will suffer in Political Future! I also hold the State Senators and Representatives Responsible for not 'STOPPING" The Slot Machines!! Governor Strickland and the Ohio State Senate, with the Representatives, who all approved these Slot Machines, might as well Approve the selling of Marijuana, Cocaine, Heron,Illegal Booze, and allow Prostitution! Tax these also. The main reason for this article I have written, is to Point Out that are elected Officials have totally disregard for the Constitution of Ohio, and the Voters! I even switched from a Republican to Democrat because I felt that Ted Strickland would Defend the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of The Great State of Ohio!

Ohioans already gamble millions of dollars in our neighboring states...why not keep the money here. On top of that it will help rejuvenate a $900 million dollar industry which provides millions to the state already. This is the right thing to do regardless of what you conversatives think. Gambling is as easy as logging on to a computer these days and if you don't think people in ohio are already doing it then you are sadly mistaken. If you don't want to gamble, then don't. It is as simple as that.

The West Virginia Lottery Commission has run slots at the racetracks in the state for years. There's no way you can tell me that they don't make money. I don't know where their money goes, or how it's divided, but come on, it has to make some money. The reason the voters in Ohio have turned down gambling is every elected official has oppposed it forever, and all you see is vote NO commercials, so naturally you are going to vote no. Do some research from other states and see what has happened with their casinos and how they spend the money. If anyone thinks they know how to run the state efficiently without raising taxes......RUN FOR GOVERNOR!!!!!

Looks like the Gov. is caught between a rock and a hard place. Now we might as well go all the way, lets legalize prostitution and license ohio's prostitutes this will bring in enough revenue from surrounding states to balance the budget. I am at a total loss to see the Democrats so bereft of ideas and leadership on this issue.Right now Strickland looks like a lameduck.

I do not like the idea of having the slot machines either and I question that they will make as much as projected. BUT, we all need to hope it does! We are losing valuable services that people rely on to live, such as eating and care in their homes. We CANNOT afford to lose anymore. Those of you who are so against the idea, then maybe you can come up with a better idea. None of our legislators could. We just need to hope that the slot machines make the projected income or our state will be worse off than it already is.

I thought the Politicians viewed the vote of the people to be sacred? Well we see it looks like another slap in the face to voters by Governor Strickland. Now Mr. Strickland I request you allow the Private Clubs and Family Owned Businsees to be allowed their smoking ban exemption as was voted by the people of Ohio. Note the BAIT and SWITCH created by the Attorney of the American Cancer Society at the Ohio Ballot Board meeting was a cute trick, but it was a planned act to misrepresent the ban its self! Now with your ban private clubs, charitable organizations and family owned busnesses have been damaged by this ban thus hurting cash flow into the state. I stronly urge without delay your support for the pending senate bill to allow those private clubs and family owned busnesses the exemption that was voted upon. I remind the public Mr Strickland utilized his office to order the Ohio Attorney General to fight this in court. I tried through public record request to find out what this cost the tax payers and could not get a cost estimate! Why only the race tracks, I'll never go to see the rear end of a horse, perhaps the State house to see yours leaving office however.

I think this is a good and long past due plan for our racetracks. Ohio's horse & farming businesses never get much press, but they are one of our state's greatest resources. Better purses at our tracks will attract more and better horses, all of which will need feed, bedding, harnesses & saddles, vets & vet techs & grooms, trailers and trucks to pull them, etc etc etc...all of which can be purchased locally. That's more products sold and more people working and more money in the pockets of Ohioans. It may be a coincidence that the out of state tracks that have gambling also have the better purses and are getting all the business, but if a business plan works, why not allow it here?

Why all the constants complaints from some of you? He'll sign the order, the slots will go in and if you don't agree with it, don't go. There are only a few racetracks in Ohio - I am pretty certain that unless you live next door to a racetrack, you have NO dog (or horse in this matter) in this fight.

People that oppose gambling in Ohio, are absolutely ridiculous if they think we don't already have it! Frankly, I am tired of standing in lines at gas stations waiting for people to determine which LOTTO ticket to play--let's hope slots will take some of the pressure off of those lines.
