So nice to know that with all going on in the world....mindless Americans have nothing better to do than watch a bunch of men feel each other up and chase a ball around a field like a bunch of chidren.

Since you're obviously busy addressing all of the ills of the world the rest of us can take a little time off and enjoy some baseball.
What exactly, are you doing to address the ills of the world? I mean aside from snarky comments about baseball.
Go Phillies. Florida is not a baseball state, It's Disneyworld and retirement homes. It's the toothless GOP along the coast and the clueless KKK in the middle.

Sean1030, are you still pouting because the Dodgers left? Or are you just pissed because the Yanks didn't make the grade? Or are you just a grouchy drunk?

Florida is not a baseball state? You obviously dont follow baseball, Florida Marlins have two World Series Rings how many do you have?

All Philly is a bunch of trash in town. Philly fans are the worst fans in the world, they rival europe soccer fans. All they want to do is fight and defend there teams, because the teams have been so terrible throughout the years that they cant defend themselves.

Be honest philly is total trash they had a jail and judge on duty for all Eagle home games because the fans couldnt control themselves.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I do find it ironic to see someone from Trenton, New Joizy calling another place, any other place "trash".

Tampa Bay doesn't deserve a baseball World Series champ. To bad cuz the team does, they're better than the Phillies, but sometimes it just doesn't go your way.

T.B. fans jumped on the band wagon about 12 minutes ago. I've been here since the "Devil Rays" came to town in 1998. Within 6 months the crowds were gone and never came back. Religious nuts wrote the St. Pete Times vowing not to attend games until they changed their name.

Granted... they were bad, and the A.L. East was the best division in baseball. But like early Buccaneer games, you would be run out of your own ball park by opposing fans. Pitiful!

Now a new owner comes in, drops the "Devil". Just in time for Joe Madden's third year, and a gelling team ready to finally break out. How convenient! They got lucky, kids matured quickly, everyone stayed healthy, and their naivete worked to their advantage.

Too bad the new owners and many fans have to make this about something other than baseball, with the dropping of "Devil". Now it's about some godly force driving the team and not the talent on the field. It's rarely spoken but hangs like this big black cloud over games. You see them everywhere, religious folks cheering for a mircacle. Pitiful!!!

Tampa Bay doesn't deserve a champ in baseball. Go Phillies!!!

Yeah the Marlins have two rings, but almost no one goes to the games.

Don't knock my sport, man. It takes my mind off some of the mess that's going on right now. Baseball is a big part of American life and also the same in other countries. I can't believe a New Yorker would not like baseball. Maybe it does make me mindless for a few hours of peace but it's always worked for me so don't knock it.

In five years, one-fourth of the Tampa players will be Yankees and another fourth will be in Boston. Rays ownership will not be able to sign all that young talent. Every World Series since Yankees vs. Padres set a record low for viewership with the exception of the two with the Red Sox. Nobody watches once their team is eliminated. Start the Series a few weeks earlier by playing more regular-season day/night doubleheaders. It's hard to watch games with players bundled up in winter gear. Who could forget Placido Polanco two years ago dressing like he was on an Artic expedition. Snow was scheduled for Denver last year had there been a game 5. The Series used to start on a weeknight then moved to Saturday to improve ratings. Now it's back to a weeknight again. MLB is out of options.
How about this? Less televised games. Games seven days a week starting April 1 and running through Oct. 1 is excessive. The casual fan is burnt out. Only local fans and sport addicts who watch weeknight college football games are tuning in. As for me, I prefer WS classics. Reg-gie Jax' three homers, Big Red Machine vs. Red Sox, Dodger Blue vs. Yankees, I-70 Royals vs. Cardinals, powder-blue Royals vs.'80 Phillies, and the '72-'74 Athletics.
