You are the perfect ass. Obviously you speak of that which you have no clue. This is both wrong and hurtful to the family. Grow up and shut up.

He only had a heart attack after losing control and seeing he was going to crash.
Bet he had his foot on the gas wide open thinking it was the brake. Had he lived he would have said the car suddenly took off and the brake did not work like all the other old murders do.
I hope they publish a report on what drugs he had in his system. bet he was high as a kite

As a member of the Bennett family, I would like to say thank you to the people who have posted prayers and caring thoughts. It is overwhelming to see the outpouring of people that loved Brent and we have seen the many people his death has affected. To the Lakins family, we also know you are dealing with sorrow and know we are thinking of you to. This was a horrible accident and we blame no one. We have read through the posts on here and it saddens us to see that some don't have compassion for the Lakins family as well as our family. Please please do not say harsh things about either family, just please keep us ALL in your prayers. We would appreciate all prayers at this time and would appreciate the respect of prayers for the Lakins family as well. Thank you.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I do not know either family affected but would like to say how sorry I am that you are having to go through such a tragedy. I have lost loved ones and it is so hard to go through everday life without them. Please don't let the people on here that are making negative comments make things worse for you. There are a lot of people praying for you and your family, including me. There are still many people out here that care about others and their feelings. Please stay strong for your family and God will take care of you and get you through this.

Really you should do it and expose this guys name for all to see. It is not that hard, just call a couple of lawyers and ask about it when you calm down a bit after dealing with your grief. We don't need cowards like this harrassing good people.
These horrible post are most likely made by children in middle school, no mature adult would say such things. It's just part of topix

http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2012/t... ... This site clearly shows the ignorance of these elderly driver's being a hazard post's. the real hazard's are shown here.
It was a tragedy life was lost but from what the papers state no one was at fault. Calling it a murder shows the ignorance of the person claiming that it was does not even know the meaning of the word. I would say this person that makes these statements has more intent to cause harm than anyone in that accident. And should be held accountable for their intent.

Google the words " elderly drivers" and just look at the results on the 1st page if you think they are not a hazard on the road.
I am happy to see more people are standing up and demanding they be removed from the roads with states trying to enact mandatory tests and other people demanding something be done.
If this old man had murdered your kid you would think different.
I am glad he died also so he can not endanger more people
or you could be more accurate and check the highway safety council or u.s. census bureau instead of a google gossip site. you would find out there that under 30 are for more likely to have an accident causing death. something should be done to the parents who raised a person who has no manners or respect for their elders.

Our prayers go out for the Bennett and Lakins families, their losses must be great. I can't even imagine the pain that they are experiencing or the sadness that is encompassing both families.

I do know that there are those who want to judge, those who want to be angry, and those who do not know how to deal with the pain they are overwhelmed with concerning the death of such a wonderful, caring, Godl young man....I pray for you the most, and in those prayers I ask for a healing of your pain and the anger that has festered in your heart.

I pray that God with bless these families, that He will give them peace and heal the gaping holes in their hearts that was made by this horrific accident. I also pray that those who are so hurt and angered by this event will use this energy in a more positive way.... there are two grieving widows, they are victims too, and it is our duty to make sure that they are cared for in a Christian manner. Reach out to them and do God's will. God charges those who love Him to do the right thing.....God Bless.

You can bet if they had to use their real names none of their non sense would've ever been said.Again my thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. So sorry for your lose.

Mr. Lakins' medical condition will not exempt him or his estate from culpability. His insurance will simply write a check for damages his acute or chronic medical condition caused. As well, the Bennett family and juvenile's family have a right to know what medications he was taking. I know they will demand this information prior to settling with the insurance carrier. WOE to both families if Lakins was not insured or under-insured. It's unfortunate for all parties involved.

This sounds very threatening to the Lakins' family and I feel a need to inform. An IP address can be traced to the computer used to make such threatening or even slanderous remarks. It's true. So if the widow of Mr Lakins wants to press charges of libel or threat of bodily injury I would suggest that they contact a lawyer who could take care of those who want to slander or cause harm to her. I would strongly suggest it knowing that Mr Lakins widow has several members of law enforcement in her family.I would also suggest that when she finds out who said these horrible and malicious statements that she would post their names so all can see. IMO.

'This sounds very threatening to the Lakins' family and I feel a need to inform.'

Lawyer's Mother, let us now inform you:
Thank you for advising everyone on Topix that the thorough and complete investigation of this tragedy may already be compromised, via a tainted and jeopardized investigation based upon YOUR STATEMENT and veiled threat regarding the Lakins''several family member's who are in law enforcement'.
Perhaps the proper authorities will trace your IP address, as well, for threatening and implying what you stated to both of these families whose loved ones were injured when you threatened having law enforcement as family members and delivered yor own intimidating comments regarding what is probably an ongoing investigation.

If he was drugged up leaving the hospital and they knew it they will also be sued.
I hope the others take every penny and every thing the old geezer owned so his family will end up with squat.
I still am betting he had a heart attack during the crash and not before. IMO he was just too old to be in traffic and hit the gas instead of the break like seniors have a bad habit of doing.
Funny thing is they always say the car did it on its on.
Them mean old cars must not like old people because you almost never hear of that happening to a young person excluding the toyota problems which I say 75% were false reports to try and sue toyota.
you are probably like me in the fact that we know NEITHER party. Therefore, why don't you take your nasty comments, thoughts, and opinions to another topic. It saddens my heart to know that bitter, nosey, rude people like you exists. Please shut up and go away. You have made your point and people hurting noticed. Satisfied? Or you going to continue on? I believe it's called dragging it out. You have posted like 30 negative remarks. We all get the point. Thank you perfect, smart, all knowing person of m'town. I will sleep better knowing such an up standing citizen we have in our community. Bye
Most people that crave and hunger for attention get it this way. NEGATIVE ATTENTION IS BETTER THAN NO ATTENTION. Very juvenile.
Please ignore this uneducated, attention seeking, black hearted POS. it is all an act and cry out. How sad that one would capitalize off someone else pain and hurt. No life
To all families, many prayers for all. You have a lot of caring people here for you. God bless

A threat to life is a more serious threat and no matter how many names you use on Topix, you can't hide the fact that you don't use good grammar and your ability to spell is basically horrid.IMO. And BTW, not my family, but if they were, you would have aleady been served.

something given as opinion as his posts as rude as they were are only opinion.
he never states anything as fact only his guess or as he put it <i bet>
Even then to win slander you have to prove the subject was harmed financially and I doubt mr lakens was harmed by anything because he was no longer with us when it was said.

If in fact he has family who are police then they could possibly be hiding evidence of his wrongdoing.
That is a conflict of interest and the crash chould be investigated by thp

1.
defamation; calumny: rumors full of slander.

2.
a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report: a slander against his good name.

3.
Law. defamation by oral utterance or by writing, pictures, etc.

I guess anybody who is the next of kin could sue. I do believe they would have a good case. One can state their opinion but one can not attack one's character, there are laws.....look them up,use the internet and see what you could be held responsible for....I didn't make the laws, I am just glad they are there to protect those who can no longer protect themselves.

ask your lawyer about the freedom of expression and speech when speaking or typing ones opinion.
in order to be slander something must be stated as FACT opinion is protected speech.

I do not think a man who IMO murdered a young man while possibly impaired because of drugs such as pain meds would have a very good name in most peoples eyes.

IMO the family better get a lawyer but not to sue someone but to defend themselves from the lawsuits that are on their way.

As far as his widow, I am very sorry she is a widow.
I wish she had been in the car with him and died also because I bet she drives also and is a danger.
Hopefully she will drive off a cliff or into the lake and not harm an innocent young man like her husband did.
sooner the better she ids dead the better off we will all be
