When Rogers accepted that hugh contract without the concern for the rest of the team He and Ted Thompson doomed the team. I told my twin brother this last summer that this was the end of the end of a good team. Its a team sport, I guess Rogers and Thompson don't realize that. You can't expect the rest of the team to kill themselves for nothing. I hope Rogers reads this, I really liked the Guy until he got so greedy. signed disapointed Timk

Tim- i just think this has been an ongoing problem since they won the super bowl several years ago.
There Pass D has been getting worse each year since that SB.The mis tackles, the lack of pressure, the lack of being in your face - physical is costing this team dearly. Capers probably feels he has that type of a backfield that can do the job and keeps calling plays that just doesnt work.
The run defense has been getting worse in the past several weeks which i dont understand.
The o line with back up qb's is just a joke. With rodgers at least he got away with a porous o line and scored a good amount of points.Wallace, tolzien and now flynn look like like sitting ducks and cannot seem to avoid the onslaught and find a way to drive down the field.
Yes blame goes to both sides of the ball this is true but wow this team without rodgers on the field is just plain brutal. At least rodgers somehow gave us a chance to be in contention year after year.

This offensive line has been covered by Lacey's runs after contact & Rodger's elusiveness. They are soft & slow. Our tackles wouldn't even be on most rosters much less start. Sitton I thot was becoming a factor but whiffs often. D-Smith makes me yearn for Jeff Saturday....ouch. Lang is just ....too soft & slow. There are no maulers in the lot. Incognito I'd even take over these guys...McCarthy needs to address this or Rodger's career may end up "what coulda been..."

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I couldn’t disagree more and I don’t think you understand the Rodgers contract very well, and what it really means to the Packers.

I don’t think in anyway it holds the Packers hostage and from my understanding it is a pretty fair deal considering what Rodgers brings to the Packers. I think some people just read the words like “megadeal” or “highest paid” and think the worst. Plus I don’t really see many on the team deserving of much more money and the Packers are not going to go out and over pay some high priced FAs. I surely rather see Rodgers get his dues than go after high priced Fas who rarely FAs play up to their big contracts (look at Jennings in MN, it’s a joke)

They are a draft and develop team and happened to draft and develop one of the best in the NFL at the games most important position. Elite QBs get paid period and I think most GMs would love to have Rodgers with that contract. If you compare it some of the other contracts for QBs and fully understand the breakdown of the contract it really leaves the Packers a lot of room to work with. The cap hits are very manageable and I think you need to take a look at it again. IMO I will take Rodgers and his big pay day any day of the week over trying to find another QB…. I think the recent events since he has been out speaks a great deal to what he can do.

The hardest part if Rodgers and Mathews contract will be in the off season after the 13 season up until the 2014 season ( both getting a combined 11M raise).
Now,there are also players like Tramon Williams who have grossly underperformed who can free up cash by being cut ( esp with Shields and Hayward at the corners,Housee as a backup,,Micah Hyde who can play Corner and Safety) and there is always the draft.
John Kuhn may very well leave with guys already there to replace him,,Point is,there is money w/o hurting the team and the fact we have all seen how important the qb is in the NFL and how the offense has gone w/o Rodgers and if that does not prove how important Rodgers is to the GB offense,i have no idea if you will ever be convinced.
