I think you ultimately have to chalk it up to inexperience. Not that it is a good excuse, but the BC police are probably not trained in how to handle black bears - it's not something they deal with every day...

I grew up in the UP and we had lots of bears! NEVER in 50 years did I ever hear of a black bear attack.

Oh, I think some fines should be imposed on the City of Battle Creek. This was totally unnecessary as the animal would have left the area on its own. No wonder space aliens won't show themselves.

I bet if it were a Polar Bear they would have tranquilized it. It's white......Just the man holding the Black Bear down...... The Dept. needs to go to sensitivity training.....

Why did they need to shot and kill it...The bear posed no risk to humans at that time of night...Come on!! I have been to Alaska and within 10 feet of a 1000lb brown bear ..education is the bigest thing here not a killing! Our police shoot then ask questions.

I have several conservative friends.

I dont judge a person's character based on their political preferences. I understand its only a 'part' of who they are.

Mark and I have had our spats but I think he knows I respect his opinions. Dark on the other hand....he wants to stomp my a$$ in the ground.
