I can easily remember using pocket change for gas when I was a teenager, or going out to the local drag strip with my Fathers car and coming back to put a dollar worth of gas in it. So that he would not know I was out racing, what a time and what a generation. We sure did love the big engines and the fast cars, it is a shame that this once greatly treasured American Past-time is dying because of the price of gas.
I am more concern about my own children and my grandchildren affording retirement and finding a good job within driving distance today then my own financial existence. The price of gas will have a much more negative affect on our American Life Style then we all can imagine.
God Bless America.

Lowell co-workers say carpooling is the way to go
According to various gas tracking web sites, around thirty years ago, the cost of a gallon of regular gas averaged at $0.36. That's around the same time when carpooling came into existence.

Yes, I remember those days when I felt bad because I couldn't even get a dollars worth of gas in the tank of my Honda CB175. And I loved my gas mileage with that bike.

I remember in the early 1970's. Our family went camping at Mears State Park in Pentwater. My dad had to work that week. He drove back, and forth between Pentwater, and Muskegon each day, it was a 110 miles round trip at a cost of $5 a day, Thats $2 a day to camp $3 a day for gas driving a big ford station wagon that had a big block V-8 engine that got about 10 miles to the gallon. Man...don't we long for those days huhh!!

It is sad! I posted some pictures of some pretty cool gas guzzling, muscle cars in tv13's photo gallery feel to check them out, because they soon will go the way of the dinosours if the gas prices keep rising. It is a crying shame! |
