I agree, Lucy. This is just over the top to make an issue of this. Time for the media to back off. I have been celled much worse things than "sweetie" without it getting under my skin. By the way, you can call me "honey" any time you'd like!

The point is... he would not have said that to a male reporter. It was condescending and anyone should know that. Would he like to be called "boy"? Of course not! That would be condescending as well. He can call his wife and his daughters "sweetie" but to call a professional woman sweetie is just wrong. Would he call the Chancellor of Germany "sweetie" if he were elected? I would hope not.

What a bunch of tight ar.sed individuals some of you are. Sweetie, Honey, Darlin', Buttercup ... they are merely words. He could not have acknowledged her at ALL. Or [[HORRORS!]] he could have addressed her as ma'am, and that would started a gender issue!

I consider myself a feminist and socially liberal I guess, and still don't see a problem with him calling her sweetie. I look at it as a term of endearment. There wouldn't have been outrage had he called a male reporter "Buddy."

We need to take a deep breath and relax. Good grief.

Perhaps I should add I'm not even a supporter of EITHER democratic candidate...and at the rate they're going, I may not even end up a supporter of the republican candidate.
