All we can do is wait and see. Actually, humans have managed to survive quite well so far, but that could change. We humans do sometimes appear to be trying very hard not to!

<quoted text> Ok you got me on that one. It is true that a lot of people did over extend their selves, but that doesn't account for everyone who is losing their homes. There are many people who have lost their homes due to lose of a job or owning lots of medical bills because of having no or crappy health insurance.
Still beats losing a home to an earthquake or cyclone. At least it didn't come down around our ears or get washed away.

NOAH and NASA just released the report on the ice. Now that they are on the "Threatened" list instead of "Endangered" list makes it harder to move the Polar Bear to the higher level. What the enviroterrorists want to do is use the unproven science to stop carbon emissions in this country to save the bears. They are really trying to stop our economy.
NOAA and NASA mentioned that polar ice grew this winter slightly as it does every winter. In late summer of 2007 it had reached it's lowest level in perhaps 1 million years.

Read a bit further next time.

Soooo, the planet should never have conditions change throughout all time? These are cycles....

Lets keep the subject about Polar Bears. I am not bringing this up to start a global warming discussion. I am simply bringing this up to explain why Polar Bears are in trouble. The ice is going away and their habitat is ICE.

Please Mark. Kool aid? This coming from someone who believes the earth is 5,000 years old.

Its called science. I know you do not beleive in science and its hard for you to wrap your mind around something as complex as mathematics, equations and measurements.

Scientists estimate that the age of the earth and the solar system is 4.5 billion years. How do they know that? Was anyone around then? Of course not, its an estimate. As time goes on we find out that these estimates are pretty close, not exact, just like the estimation of the polar ice cap 1 million years ago.

Whuteva is clueless. Polar Bear populations are at record high levels. Just another example of elitist liberals using junk science to try and advance their agenda. Look it up:

Unfortunately, humans are so arrogant, that we think we know better than mother nature. We almost eradicated the Western population of bison back in the 1800's, we have hunted wolves to the point that they too were almost extinct. Polar bears serve a very important role in the dynamics of life in the Artic regions. I'm not sure why everyone is so upset that they have been given protected status. I read posts on these threads everyday (mine included) about people outraged about dogs being given to research companies, and just today, the bear being killed by the B.C police. I'm not a tree hugger, but hey, if the animals need a little help, why not give it to them? I would hate to see these beautiful animals become extinct.

National Review!!!! LOL. There's an unbiased media source. Kind of like going to a beef company's website to reasearch the benefits of being a vegitarian.

Sorry, I'll trust the thousands of scientists researching this dilema instead of basing my opinion on an article written by the elitist neo-con William F Buckley.

Ya know, I've seen them on TV drinking Coke. Must be really friendly animals.

1970 5000
2008 25,000

We need to make coats out of them so we will sustain the population for the profit.

They have been making a comeback but that isnt the issue here. The issue is that 2/3rds of the current polulation could be gone within 30 years.

Again this goes back to their habitat shrinking. I know when it comes to matters pertaining to the environment I cant make myself clear enough to drown out the voices of eco-communists Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh but facts are facts. Whether their habitat is shrinking is not debatable. To you and those on AM radio maybe it is debatable. I cant help those who cant help themselves. Based on the 'facts at hand' their future is threatened.

Hate to break it to you but the habitat is shrinking for every living thing on the planet as evidence by the Continents moving around the world. Use to be one land mass. The earth is always changing. The Ice will return.

Err, the return of the ice, not the shifting of the continents over time.

Hey doofus, Buckley is dead. Bet you didn't even read the article. The article was written by someone with a Ph.D in Meteorology, something I'm sure you do not possess. You probably get your “facts” from those bastions of "unbiased" reporting: ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN etc. Typical Liberal, can't dispute the fact so they attack the source. How do your "thousands of scientists",(whose paychecks depend on toeing the far left line at the college socialist indoctrination centers), dispute a 500% increase in the Polar Bear population?
