I live in Opp, AL. where Kevin Wilburn is a pastor at Southside Baptist Church in our town. I have attended Southside at different times for about 1 year now and I truly believe that Kevin and his family are truly people of God. The tragic and untimely death of Ms. Brenda Wilburn must be the most horrible experience a person should ever have to live through. If Ms. Wilburn is anything like her son, she was a wonderful person and I know that she and her family did a wonderful job raising a God-fearing son. I pray that she was not afraid when she was experiencing what happened to her and my thoughts and prayers are with all of her family.
I am praying that the persons responsible for this terrible tradegy are soon found and receieve the maximum penalty allowed by law. If robbery were the motive, the persons involved probably could have asked Ms. Wilburn for whatever they needed and she probably would have given it to them. All judgment is ultimately of the Lord our Father, and whatever the responsible party receives will not be as severe as the Lord's punishment.
May the Lord strengthen and bless the Wilburn family is my prayer and the prayers of the town of Opp, AL. Brother Kevin, Mandy and Luke we love you all. With Christian Love, Menda Davis

are you saying that they didn't pray enough to have the woman receive god's protection? why would god have allowed that to happen to someone who was clearly walking in his path?

To save idiots like you from damnation. Just because we walk in Gods path doesn't mean we are free from troubles and trials... Read Job he was blessed abundantly for maintaining his faith in God even through his troubles just as we are God never said we would not go through pain or sorrow just because we are one of his actually he said we would suffer much in His Name..(QUOTE)

I am reading these in shock- I am sure all of you are deeply saddened by Mrs. Wilburns death as are we. I think all 3 post are very nice and nothing was ment by any of you that was ill willed. I just think if Kenin and Mandy (or any other family members)read these they would be very dissapointed in the arguing that is taking place. Please consider how much this would hurt them if they were to read these. Everyone was speaking in positive terms.

I keep checking this site hoping there is an arrest pending. I did not know the victim. There was inherently evil involved. I am also a single 60 year old that lives alone in a nice neighborhood. If Ms Wilburn was not safe then we all are potential victims. Surely an arrest will be imminent.

Furious that this arrested suspect was ignored by the law 2 years ago for the theft of a Semi Tractor and Trailer with a load of Copper. Law
in Lincoln County and Giles County was given enough
evidence to arrest him. They didn't. He sold the
trailer and copper when copper was high. Ran the truck off the side of Monteagle Mountain. He stole his mothers identity and charged thousands of dollars to her. She had to go back to work. He should have been put away years ago. He has committed many many more crimes and always able to evade the law. I hope Mrs. Wilburn's family sees that he gets what he has coming. His own family feared him.

What a dirt bag the suspect is. Surely this Dude will be put to death for this horrible crime. So very sorry for Ms Wilburn's family.

I personally know this suspect's family, not him, and they are deeply troubled by the events that have unfolded. They are God fearing people and I hope eveyone posting comments on here remembers that his family, brothers and sister, had nothing to do with this and they have feelings too. Please try to put yourself in their position. I am very sorry for Ms Wilburn's family but I am also very sorry for what this is putting his family through. I will be praying for Ms Wilburn's family and for his family also.

Yes,It is true, you must also think of the accused Family also, They are going through hell too. Sit back and think how you would feel if it was your own son or daughter that was accused of this. He is not guilty of this at this point, he is innocent until proven guilty, and shame on you for not beliving in the American way. Just think of the terror you would feel not knowing if it is true or not and wondering what people were thinking and saying behind your back if this was your own. I know all of the family except for him and they are all well respected members of our community. I am proud to say they are my friends and will stand up and be there for them if they need support. He wasn't brought up to be a murderer. And to furious in pulaski; there is a differnce between being a theif and a murderer. I pray for both families for what they are going through.

A murderer does not get to the point of murdering without something going terribly wrong in his childhood to cause him to be violent as an adult. He has a history of violence. Even if he is the only bad apple in the family, there's some secrets in the closet somewhere. I would, however, like to understand what did go wrong and why he felt he needed to murder Brenda. Perhaps this would help us understand how to stop violence.

Would like "furious in Pulaski" to elaborate on the "many, many other crimes" that Robert Garner has committed. Being ignorant of his background, this would be educational to those of us who are watching this nightmare unfold.

This man CHOSE to murder this wonderful woman! His choice, no one else! He took a mother, friend, grandmother, good woman from this world for NO reason! Everyone wants to make excuses for people's actions. If that was the case, ther would be pleanty of murders' out here because of past actions or bad childhoods. So the pitty party for this man is unjust and disgusting! If he did do this and take away this lovely woman from her family because of reasons that are unjust, life, death aren't enough. He will be judged as he should be before God. I would hate to be in his shoe!
May he burn in hell as he burned Brenda!

they have not charged anyone with the burning of brenda's house. who helped try to cover this crime up? hope they are still looking at the people around ths evil man. someone helped him try to cover this up or they would of charged him with arson also. he has spent time in prison for other crimes where he hurt people. hope they arrest someone soon for the arson...

"furious in Pulaski" How do you even know all of this? Are you close to the family? Close enough that they would tell you everything that is going on in their personal lives?

southern_belle93 1 I agree with "T-Storm". You can't hold the blame for what a man did over the heads of his family. What if you were to commit a crime, would you want me to hope your whole family burns in hell? NO! Yes, he is a bad man and he made bad decisions, but that doesn't make his whole family bad. People need to put themselves in this family's shoes for just a minute. Think about how hurt his family must be. What they must be thinking when they know that their son, brother, uncle, cousin, and father is a thief and murderer! I personally know the family and I know for a fact that even to this day, they are STILL hurting and grieving for the poor lady he hurt...especially his parents and child! So just remember that, the next time you want to condemn a whole family to hell for the actions and choices of ONE person! Have a little compassion . This mad man didn't just hurt ONE person, he hurt dozens! So have a little compassion for them too!
