NES is the worse and are scamming us.. Last winter I kept my heat on 78 degrees and had $260 month bills in a small 2 bedroom 800 sq feet apartment.. But now.....
This year I sealed all wondows with plastic and dropped the heat to 72 Degrees since October and my bill is still $260 a month.. Go figure

What was the name of the company that will pay for 6 months of your electric bill for installing their heating system? Thank you!

It seems everyone abuses the public trust. NES; why do they need a sky box at Sommet' or Titans stadium? Why is that you try to save money by using less electricity and the rates go because you did not use as much? GulfStates Gas wants to charge those who use less gas than those who do? To get on the TVA Board you have to be appointed by the elected officials. Middle Tennessee electric has a Board of Trustess that are there at the beck and call of the MTEC. Did you notice that Middle Tennessee Electric went from a Coop to a Corportation. Hey, they all have blood on their fangs.... Public Service, well sorta, and, at a price to the public trust; our trust....??

Ok. This is the same ole American greed. Not very many people care about good helpful service anymore. Everything is about making a dollar. Even if you have to screw somone to get it.

If the electric chair was still in use for serial child molesters and 1st Degee murders I wouldn't mind a slight increase. When will the public ever learn. 3O THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR TO KEEP A PERSON LOCKED UP. When anti death people's family member are murdered. Most rethink their beliers.

Rick people control laws that affects them. " Always Been,Always Will Be". News Media will always will have a Story on this kind of Fraud. Rich people laugh all the way to the bank. How about a story about who really controls the News Media.

Well, we keep our home temp. set on 70-71 but, that is good for us. Our bill runs in the winter 235.00 to 250.00 it just depends how severe cold it is outside.
My mother keeps her home at 78..... her average bill is 250 up but, she needs her home that warm due to her age & medical needs.
I have never complained, there is no need to for we all are different. Some want it cool & some want their homes toasty warm.
As for funds going to wine & dine executives.....I would have to draw the line there. this is utter nonsense!
I'm sure if we check any utility company rather it is water, gas etc. we would find this. Is it right? NOooooooooooo Let them entertain on "Little Debbie cakes" and a cup of coffee.
I certainly don't want my hard earned money going for drinks all around for the big wigs!

the last time I checked, TVA was not a non-profit organization. I am sure NES does a little of this too.

I've had enough of nes and tva, many middle Tennesseans may not know that in other
cities you can choose your electric company,
so if one treats you badly you can switch to their competitors, no such luck in Nashville as they have had the monopoly
for over 100 years, nes has ruled with an iron fist since they owned all of the trolleys! This is the down side of capitalism you may have heard about, one company eliminated the others and at that point residents have no choice but to do as that company says and they can pretty much treat you like they are the irs, when clearly they are a privately owned company with no such rights.

How many free rounds of golf do I get out of this? Do I just send them the reciepts???? Must be nice to be a part of the corrupt, wealthy, greedy, privilaged!

It is not like any of those people can afford their own golf rounds.

Yes,my NES bill is so very high. I don't know how much more I can take of this. It's getting to a point should I choose to eat or go without power. Please some one need to help all of us.

I think it's beyond ridiculous that these big wheels feel they have to play golf or go to a fancy dinner just to get things done.I don't get to go to nice dinners all the time so why should they get to take my money and treat themselves? It's just not right!!!!

OldSchool,
Just to sincerely clarify...Middle Tennessee Electric is still an electric cooperative. "Corporation" has been in the formal name "Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation" since 1936. The Board of Trustees (or "Directors") is actually elected by the membership (customers).

Please, don't get me started on the utility communists! I know, they're not communists, but all utilities are the most ruthless entities to deal with. They know you have no choice but to use their services,'cause there is no alternative other than sitting in the dark and freezing to death while drinking rain water and using an outhouse. Phone? Alternative-carrier pigeon! They don't care if you die! You pay that huge bill or rot! Sorry....I'm done.

I've never seen where or when they vote on this, and I've been a customer for 20+ years

Look what they are demonstrating is that they can do whatever they want whether you like it or whether its fair or not, do you think Mayor Carl Dean is going to challenge tva and nes?
seriously

Before everyone decides to attack TVA, NES, and MTEC take a look at every company you pay for a service. Cable companies, telephone companies, credit card companies, banks, etc.... They all do this. It has been a part of their practice for years. Unfortunately this is what is takes to get support from the government and other larger entities. These officials are like whores, lol, you have to wine and dine them before they will put out.

Of course not...I'm sure he reaps the benefits as well.

I agree what NES is charging us is crazy!! There is no way that our bills should be 300 to 500 dollars a month! And that is with us keeping all lights on a practically freezing because we wont turn the heat up.It's about time someone looked into this!

Why is Newschannel 5 picking on TVA? Executives in nearly every medium to large size company and every type of company (even my own employer), waste money with "wining and dining". There is much useless and lavish spending while the rest of us working class people suffer. We get mad and want it to change, but you can't tell a company how to spend its money. TVA is not funded by taxpayer money, so stop picking on them. Its unfair. The media is just trying to boost its ratings by showing negative stories, as usual.
