You know 100 mph isn't all that dangerous. Driving under the influence of anything is. So is mixing with much slower traffic that doesn't understand you're driving that fast and they should stay out of the left lane to let you through.

I spent three years in Europe and drove 100+ mph all the time but then European drivers are much more disciplined about which lanes they use and how fast the drive.

My brother was stationed in Germany for 8 years while serving in the Army. He also drove 100+ miles per hour "all the time". He, however, was almost killed by another driver, on the Autobahn, who was also going over 100+ mph. Speed kills no matter where you are or how experienced you think you may be.

How absolutely tragic for that young man's family. I have a son that age and I cannot imagine anything more painful.

reading Fritz comment...
well...hmmm..not in Europe...and there are reasons the speed limits are as they are...
and yes..going 100 miles an hour anywhere is very dangerous..especially weaving in and out of traffic and on the emergency lanes...people shouldn't have to stay out of the left lane if they are going an acceptable rate of speed..and 100 mph..is not acceptable.
This person made a bad choice when he first got into the car to begin with after drinking...and I feel sympathy for his family.
but I don't agree with someone saying "oh driving 100mph is not dangerous and slower people (aka going speed limit) should get out of the way and LET you drive as fast as you want.
sigh.

Well if he shot someone while committing a robbery alot of people would be judging, and if he was killed during this robbery everyone would be praising who shot him, but since it was a traffic accident we should not point out the obvious, and show sympathy. Why should we cut someone a break that caused a traffic fatality, we do not cut the criminals a break.

We need to take the actions on the road more seriously. More people are killed or seriously injured on the road than during a criminal act. In fact you are twice as likely to be a victim on the road than at the hands of a criminal. Criminals have no regards to the law just as these drivers have no regards to traffic laws. The only difference between a criminal killing someone than a driver killing some one is the drivers are killing twice as many innocent people.

Bonzdriver, the Darwin award goes to the 22-year-old who "fell" off the pedestrian bridge after the Titans game last month, lest we forget.

KJ Engels and noi are spot on. Michael was an awesome friend and a good, caring person. He always had a great big smile for you, complete with a big squeezy hug. He made a bad decision and paid for it with his life. Those of you haughtily giving out "Darwin awards" are the real failures at evolution. I miss him already. My prayers go out to his family and all of his friends, who were many.

While I'm sorry that your precious daughter was injured and I agree drinking under the influence of any intoxicant is idiotic, I have to ask: Who the hell are you to judge this human? You were not there. You have no clear idea of what was going through his mind when this happened. Did you ever think that your GOD was trying to teach YOU a lesson when your daughter was hit on that fateful day by that "damn drunk"? Or maybe these occurances are not meant as punishment. That bad things happen just as often as good things do.

Mike was a good person. Please hold your tongue. Don't be so harsh. I can assure you, he would not react this way were the circumstances reversed.

Oh, and please get a dictionary. Place it on your bedside table with your Bible.

You can say what the hell you need to but he made those decisions and he still should not have gotten behind the wheel!! Just because you have a dictionary sitting beside your computer don't mean i need one by my bed!!! I will not hold tounge!! He got what he deserved for acting like a damn idiot and a lunatic out on the road!!
