I'd like to know WHY a 16 year old has access to an AK-47 rifle.
His parents should be arrested as well.

Let's absolutely hope that the parents will also be held responsible in this one, whether they owned the gun or were aware of it's existance. Pretty darn hard to hide an AK-47 in your kid's room (and if so, where did he get the $ in the first place?)

I totally agree that parents should be held responsible for their children's actions. Maybe we can get those that are not interested in their kids to actually become parents...Even if it's to save their own ****

I have a feeling the parents role, if any, will be investigated fully. As an aside, I very much doubt the kid used a true AK-47, a fully-automatic weapon. More likely, he had one of the common, semi-auto AK clones.

absolutely correct, hey, channel 8 lets get it right ,dont give the gun grabbing nuts any more reason to freakout, how many times have i heard in your news stories that someone used an automatic weapon, when in fact it was a semi auto pistol. also remember that according to fear mongers in government and law enforcement anything that looks like an assault rifle is an assult rifle by the way the term assault rifle never existed untill brady and clinton got together to try to ban as many guns as they could in one fell swoop.!!! my second amendment right is guarateed by the constitution, or have you forgotten?.

I say lock the parents up and shoot the kid with the AK-47. That way we dont have to deal with that stupid **** again. Yes i said again, we all know he will do it again.

What is wrong with a 16 year old having a rifle? Do you realllllly believe it's a real "AK-47"? I sure don't. The right to keep an bear arms is constitutionally protected. OK, so this **** abused his right, but the parents didn't.

I used to carry my shotgun to and from school when i was in middle school, i just had to leave it in the principal's office during the school day. I'm only 42, btw.

I'd bet my testicles it's not a true Ak-47. A semi-auto clone should be fully legal, so no reason to go after the parents, IMO.

Whether it was a true AK-47 or an AK clone, no 16 year old should be allowed to have guns or any access to them at all. I absolutely agree with all those who say that the parents of this child should be held accountable for this as well as the child himself.

Most 16 year olds (IMO) are not mature enough (obviously) to handle guns.

There are MANY adults that aren't mature enough to own them - yet they do. And, unfortunately, that is why so many innocent people are killed with guns.

Why shouldn't kids have guns? All 4 of my daughters are avid hunters. What's wrong with that? That are all excellent shots with a handgun and could defend themselves if the need should ever arise.

Your mentality automatically makes everyone under 16 a potential victim

Do i let my kids run around with a gun unsupervised (like i was allowed to as a kid)? No, but I know they'd handle it properly if I did.

This kid is 16, old enough to know right from wrong, I say try him as an adult. I don't see anything in the article that lends to any degree of culpability on the parents part. Why make up new gun laws now? Don't the 22,000 existing gun laws in this country work?

Nearly every single 16 year old I know is mature enough to handle firearms, and I know an awful lot of 16 year olds through coaching softball, being a swim official, and having 4 daughters between 11 & 18.

If more parents properly taught their kids about firearms, we'd all be better off.

That might work in a homogeneous country with a high standard of living. But don't try it anywhere poor or racially mixed.

Brooklyn is a dump full of animals and white trash like this kid. Blow up the whole town and start over. Anyone who lives in Brooklyn is worthless.
