Gas for a buck

East Haven _ Gas for under a dollar? It's possible, but unless you're in line right now you're going to be out of luck on the big bargain.

This seems like a pretty good deal, but for the dope's why lined up at 10:30pm last night, if you kept your car running for any amount of time last night to keep warm, don't you think you wasted more gas then the lesser cost you received? It just seems wasteful to me to sit there all night or drive from far away, you are probably wasting more gas in the long run!

well not all of us are dumb enough to actually run the cars while in line. i just sat there cooking on the grill and on the laptop with a blanket to kill time...and it was well worth it i saved 90 bucks today on gas

I would save $37 if I filled up at $.99/gallon. You couldn't pay me $37 to sit in a line for hours and hours. That sounds mind numbingly boring. I could think of a hundred different ways to make or save that much money in a fraction of the time. People are sheep.

I know this sounds pompous but waiting 8 hours for cheap gas just isn't worth it to me. My time is more valuable and while gas is exceedingly expensive, waiting with 250 other cars just isn't all that appealing. If you shop at Price Chopper, they offer the fuel advantage and I'm already up to $1.70 savings. Definitely not under the 1.00 mark but every 4 weeks, I get a heck of a bargain on gas!

Here are some people doing a little bit of good and all anyone can do is berate them and call the people who waited fools! Everyone needs to stop being so negative and look at the good that this did for most people. Like you were taught in kindergarden, if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all! Simple as that. We all need to be a little more positive in these tough times.

I agree it is a good thing and if some of the higher ups (governor, president, exc.) would put a cap on the gas prices and all of the gas stations did this it may help!! But until them I will stand by MY OPINION!

I think it was a nice gesture ...Hummer of Econo Car....I'm Happy for those who were able to take advantage of this...Come on guys If given the time and opportunity we all would stand in line (with motors off) to pay 99 cents a gallon...That's the price or lower that we think it should be anyway...

Well, I think waiting in line since 10:30 last night was pretty lame. How desperate are you to waste 12 hours in a line. You could save $90 bucks by cutting out the Twinkies from your diets.

There's a station in East Haven that is always 10 cents cheaper than other stations, and the line is always four or five cars deep per pump. If you have a 20 gallon tank, you save $2.00....if you don't buy that cup of coffee from McDonald's every morning, you would save the same.

Time to start prioritizing your spending, line-waiters.

Yea, kind of...I go by that station every morning, but I couldn't wait for their sale to get gas, so I had to pay $3.93 a gallon. It may be jealousy, but it's more likely taking my anger about gas prices out on him...but then again, how many people do you think waited in line to just top their tanks off? A lot of people lack common sense any sense of selflessness to give way for people who need a full tank and can really use the savings...money they could be spending on food.
